Player The 2024/25 Unavailable (Injury & Suspension) Player Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We seem to be collecting more injuries - so time for a thread !

Defenders

1 Romero

- 6/11 - Sore toe v Villa (3/11) might make Ipswich at weekend, or if not after international break
- Starts v Ipswich.

2 Van de Ven
- Hamstring v Man City (30/10) but might be 'slight'
- No timescales at present other than 'after international break). Earliest back guessed at start December ?

3 Spence
- Groin issue
- No timescales, but maybe back directly after international break as he's been out for a couple of weeks already ?
- On bench v Ipswich

Midfield

Shhh !

Forwards

1 Richarlison

- Another hamstring v Villa 3/11
- Out for a month, so back first week December ?

2 Moore
- Virus
- No timescale, maybe back v Ipswich at weekend or after international break

3 Werner
- Groin, apparently carried for a while, subbed v Villa (3/11)
- No timescale, might be back v Ipswich or after international break ?
- On bench v Ipswich

4 Odobert
- Played 10 mins in his comeback before recurrence v Alkmaar (24/10) - a serious setback
- No timescale, but December ????

Update before Galatasaray

I suspect that somebody has probably suggested what I am about to say but;

Is it the megadome pitch that causes the volume and frequency of injuries?

The Wolves players also seemed to be having issues out there today.

Does anyone know if the majority of Spurs injuries have occurred during home games or if a disproportionate amount of injuries, to Spurs and visiting players, have occurred at home since we moved on to the sliding pitch?

Udogie 6 weeks out

Players out as of 3 January (before Newcastle match), and progress to return where known :

Vicario - end February ?
Romero - 'late January'
Van de Ven - 'late January'
Ben Davies - 'Late January'
Udogie - hamstring 27/12, return in 6 weeks (mid February)
Mikey Moore - Due back in one week's time ?
Odobert - ? (he put his picture up showing him in boots - suggests maybe 4-6 weeks to return ?)
Richarlison - Due back in one week's time ?

Plus a general comment that a few players have picked up a bug during week, uncertain if any affected for Newcastle game.

Spence returns next week after a one match suspension, but Bentancur out for one match on 4th Jan v Newcastle

NB Maddison & Sarr are suspended for Wednesday's League cup game

Udogie 6 weeks out

I thought VDV was just 1-2 weeks how has that dragged on.

I thought VDV was just 1-2 weeks how has that dragged on.

To be fair a journo caught him minutes after match ended when Ange said he thought it was a minor injury so a couple of weeks. Following week when swelling went down and a proper examination made it became clear it was out for some time (= Jan some time)

Motto of the story, Ange should have said when asked just after match 'no idea mate, need to wait until swelling down enough to make a diagnosis which will be next week sometime'

The club are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They were called reckless for playing him against Chelsea so are now taking absolutely no risks and not going to rush him back.

The Udogie situation sums it all up. He was back in training before the United and Liverpool games but the club were cautious and gave him an extra week off before Forrest. They even sub him off early against Forrest but the Spence red card meant he had to play the next game too and BANG hammy gone and out for 6-10 weeks! Now fans are calling us reckless for playing him but thats just total hindsight and not understanding everything. The club could not have been any more cautious with him, he got a 2 week rest between Southampton and Forrest for what was just a knock where he would have played on if we were not already 4-0 up! And chances are he might have got rested again against Wolves if Spence didn't get banned!

So I really find it bizzare why fans are trying to blame everything on Ange being reckless. Its simply not true and just pure agenda driven.

You've got it all wrong guys. Romero and VdV being out for another month yet is a "boost".

Celebrate, peasants.

I think the headline writer has a bit of a warped mentality if he thinks getting players back at end of January is a boost - especially since Van de Ven was initially injured in October (3 months before end of January) even if he got re-injured last month.
