I mean we only played Chelsea last week where he flat out refused to take on 19 year old Alfie Gilchrist.

There's so much revisionism around Son every week, his position changes depending on how bad he's done in the previous match, contrary to the popular opinion this week he isn't finished as a striker at all, that's where he's the most effective these days and that's where he can impact the game. I think the landscape totally changes when we have 2 capable and dangerous wingers either side of him as it will open more space for him.

That said I think he can still play as a winger in some matches, probably when we have an advantage in matches but his future is definitely as a ST.
Respectfully disagree.

He was rejuvenated yesterday when he moved to LW. Had his oppo full back on toast - in a way neither Kulusevski or Johnson could manage. For the previous 3/4 of the game, he was a passenger at #9 - knocked off the ball easily, not great in build up play.

His ineffectiveness at #9 also costs the team in other ways. Our inability to make the ball ‘stick’ up front means that we are doing a whole lot more defensive work that we should be. We concede the same goal every game it seems - quick break and in behind the full back, having lost the ball easily up front.

We need our #9 to hold the ball up, bring others into play, defend from the front and…..score lots of different goals (inc headers).

Son has been (& continues to be) a talisman for this club. He is still devastating running onto the ball….whether as a winger of off the striker. We need a striker to bring the best out of Sonny - in the way that Kane did

I'm not gonna go on about his performance yesterday, he was literally facing a Burnley team who were going for the win who left all sorts of gaps and weren't tracking runners etc...so let's talk about the Chelsea game where he played 90 mins on the wing and failed to beat his man once, people have such short memories, as a 1v1 winger he is cooked, the last time he was effective in that position consistently was about 3 years ago.

We definitely need another striker but out and out saying he's finished as a ST is just plain wrong, that's where he is strongest, the issue isn't him, it's who he has beside him - for example put Oliseh and Eze beside of him and he'd be a million more times more effective, look how Mateta is playing for example and he's nowhere near Son.

It's true that (not just re: Sonny) a lot depends on who and how players are playing around him...... I guess that's part of our problem; there is no 'alpha' in our attack that can be relied upon to do their thing well regardless of circumstance; upon which the other players can lean and build..... Too much what-if-and-maybe makes our attack all a bit list-less.
