Been wrestling with the whole 'CL but Gooners win' thing. I keep swaying this way and that but - even though I have little faith we'll beat city - ultimately I don't think there's any way I can willingly want us to lose a match. I love the idea of the gooners falling flat on their face again, but I also want us to finish the season strong and get a nice psychological lift for next season.

Fuck woolwich - they'll always be second-class citizens in North London whatever happens.
 
Currently closer to Brentford in 16th than City in 1st.

And people had the nerve to ask me why I thought we weren’t in a title race after Christmas.

This is why you nutters!!! Can’t even beat Villa in a two horse race to 71 points.

And this is also why I think Ange is going to perform a major miracle if we can win the league next year.

We need to start calling him the Aussie Jesus. Positive thinking.

We’re now four points behind Villa with two to play .

GD is irretrievable from our POV,

They’ve got Liverpool at home , then away at a resurgent Palace . They could lose both or end up with a DL or LD. Not “unthinkable “.

Either way we’d have to beat BOTH City ( building on what we’ve done today ) .

Then :

Finish off , rock-bottom, relegated Sheffield Utd up there on the last day .

We’d finish 4 th !!!

Three questions :

Would we ?

Could we ?

Should we ?

Not straightforward, is it ? Not straightforward at all ….

Fucking BBC have changed the football website.
If Man United draw with Newcastle we are guaranteed 6th.
And with the draw if Chelsea don't win all their games we are guaranteed 5th.

I think we’re guaranteed 5th now tbh. Even if we lose 6-0 against City, a draw against Sheff Utd is enough. If we don’t get a point there, we simply don’t deserve 5th.

We have to get there first. There's still a nightmare scenario that can mathematically happen:

Spurs lose last 2 games (10% chance) and get overtaken by both Newcastle and Chelsea (1% chance)
Man Utd finish 8th or worse (guaranteed in the above scenario)
Man Utd beat City in the FA Cup (10% chance) and take 7th Europe spot

Unlikely but possible.
