Tottenham is a London based football club which was established on 5th September 1882 and has been part of the proud English football tradition for more than 135 years. They are affectionately known as Spurs (and have an emblem of a cockerel standing upon a football) and currently play their games at Wembley Stadium. However, before they moved to Wembley, they played all of their home games at White Hart Lane which has been demolished so that Spurs’ new stadium could be built.

Tottenham’s biggest rivals are neighbouring London clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea. The matches against Arsenal are particularly feisty occasions as their duels are often referred to as the North London derbies. In recent years, due to Tottenham’s increasing ambitions and improving performances, the club has also established several new rivalries with fellow Top 6 clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool.

Tottenham’s performances and their consecutive league finishes in the Champions League spots have raised the club’s profile quite substantially in the last 3-4 years and as a result they are now one of the Top 4 favourites to win the English Premier League title next year and to reach the elimination stages of the Champions League.

This type of success is something that Spurs’ fans are not used to as their last league victory was more than half a century ago in the 1960/1961 season and that was only their second league title ever. Their other notable victories were the 1971/1972 and 1983/1984 UEFA Cup victories and their last FA Cup victory came in the 1990/1991 season.

However, it seems like it is only a matter of time before Spurs’ trophy cabinet has a new trophy addition as Mauricio Pochettino, who is probably the best coach which Tottenham have ever had, has built a very talented and capable squad.

Spurs’ squad is spearheaded by Harry Kane. The 24 year old English international was released from Arsenal’s youth academy in 2002 because their coaches felt that he wasn’t good enough for a title challenging side. However, 16 years later, Kane is probably the best striker in the world. He has consistently scored more than 20 goals in a season and is deadly in the box as he can score goals with his left and right foot and is a force to be reckoned with in the air.

However, Tottenham is anything but a one man team and this was clearly evident whenever Harry Kane had an injury. In those times of need, players such as Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembélé, Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen stepped up and took over the responsibility to perform and deliver.

And it is not just them; Tottenham is full of quality in all lines of the team. Furthermore, Spurs’ current average squad age is one of the youngest in the division and Mauricio Pochettino has even fielded a first eleven with an average age of 23.4 which is only by a fraction older than Tottenham’s youngest first eleven ever. This means that this Spurs squad can achieve big things as long as it stays together. See this website for further information about betting options.
