You could be forgiven for thinking that the nerves had crept in and had the potential to derail Spurs’ Champions League qualification hopes at the final hurdle this season, especially after a run of form which had seen them only win one game out of their last four, with two defeats. Spurs will begin life in their new home next season and securing Champions League football was an integral part of the plan, but everyone can breathe a sign of relief as they are now guaranteed a top four finish.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men managed to edge out Newcastle United at Wembley by a goal to nil in what was a rearranged fixture. These three points, combined with Chelsea’s failure to beat Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge, mean that Spurs will likely finish in third place, provided they can better Liverpool’s result on the final day of the 2017/18 campaign. While some may see it as another season of disappointment with the club failing to pick up any silverware, securing European football ahead of the move was the real aim.

The move to the new stadium is likely to pay off in many ways for Spurs, with the increased revenue likely to be a key factor. Daniel Levy, well known for being a tough negotiator in English football, has always worked to strict budgets in the past, and while this is unlikely to change in the future, the budgets are bound to increase due to the club making more money.

This will also mean that there is more chance that Spurs can hold on to their top players too. While it does look like Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose could be heading for the exit this summer, it’s likely that Levy will be able to keep star men Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen happy. It has long been a concern for many Spurs fans that they could see their best players poached by others; but securing Champions League football ready for the new stadium, should ease these worries considerably.

While Spurs will also head into the summer knowing they can keep hold of their better players if they so wish, they will also be in a position to attract a better calibre of player you’d imagine too. In fact, anyone interested in knowing what happens during the summer transfer period should visit Betting.com for all the latest news on Spurs and sport in general. Spurs have now announced themselves as Champions League regulars and who wouldn’t want to play in the most modern stadium on the planet in the capital of England?

The signs really are promising ahead of what is sure to be an important summer for Spurs. While it is likely any side will find it hard to challenge Manchester City next season, Spurs are certainly taking all the right steps in order to do so. If they can add further quality to their squad in the close season, they could be up there challenging for honours once again. The stadium will play a huge role in this too, meaning it’s more likely better players will want to join the best side in North London.
