Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has the chance to rest some first-team players and mix things up a little in terms of his selection on Monday night when the team visits Wycombe in the Emirates FA Cup.

Having played about a week ago in the 3-1 victory over Sheffield United, Jose’s team should be raring to go against Wycombe they aim for a spot in the last 16 of the club competition.

Expected to mix up his selection a little, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager are very unlikely to risk the likes of top striker Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Son Heung-min from the start of the game, with an important clash with reigning Premier League, champions Liverpool coming up on Thursday night. With the Liverpool clash insight, Jose is expected to hand some fringe players a rare opportunity to start against Wycombe.

Aside from handing out the opportunity to fringe players, Jose could possibly be without four of his players for the trip to Wycombe. On Friday, Mourinho confirmed at his presser that Giovani Lo Celso will still be missing, with Dele Alli, Matt Doherty, and Serge Aurier also major doubts for the FA Cup tie.

The potential absence of all the players mentioned above, including the fact that the Portuguese tactician may opt to rest some of his important first team players, would open the door for other fringe players to make the matchday squad as nine substitutes can have a place on the substitute bench for the Cup competition.

Many Spurs fans will be hoping Jose Mourinho, who is not known for handing out playing chances to youngsters,  hands 16-year-old Alfie Devine an opportunity in the FA Cup tie after his 45-minute impressive display against Marine in the previous round, and they will be hoping to repeat their feat with in the next round as BoyleSports have made preparations ahead of the day of the match.

A member of Spurs’ U18 team, the summer signing from Wigan was called upon at Marine and found the net just 15 minutes after his introduction to become Tottenham’s youngest goalscorer ever. The teenager didn’t look out of place on the pitch, despite his young age and he will continue to get playing opportunities if he keeps on improving at this rate.

Club fans will also be eager to another starlet Dane Scarlett handed another playing opportunity in the first team between now and summer, considering his brilliant form for the youth team.

Scoring 20 goals in 15 matches across all competitions this term, Dane, 16, found himself making waves earlier in the month after scoring 5 goals in the 6-2 FA Youth Cup victory over Newport County.

The former Real Madrid boss and his backroom staff know the ability of the talented youngster and have seen themselves when he started three matches from the bench for the first team in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.

A spot is likely to be available for Devine or Scarlett to feature against the Championship side on Monday night. The two starlets have been in action over the last few days, with Devine playing 90 minutes on Friday for Spurs U23s against West Ham United and Scarlett doing the same but for the Spurs U18s in their loss at Arsenal.

Two future stars who will certainly not let the first team down if handed the opportunity, fans of the North London club will have to remain hopeful that one of the two starlets will play a part in the match.
