It's a tough job but somebody has got to do it

Tottenham Hotspur are stuttering towards the end of the 2020/21 campaign with Ryan Mason in temporary charge of the team. José Mourinho, along with his staff, was sacked on the 19th of April 2021 despite guiding the club to the League Cup final. However, league form was poor, and spurs had dropped out of serious contention for the top four.

At the time of writing, Spurs are in the Europa Conference League play-off round position. There is a chance they can climb into the Europa League places but there is also the possibility they could fallout of the European qualifying positions completely come the final whistle in the last match day of the season.

Even if Spurs manage to clinch a Europa League spot, Mason is highly unlikely to remain in the position and the former player is only a temporary solution until the end of this season. The question is, who is going to be Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager? If you want to place a wager on who the next Spurs Manager will be, go to https://www.onlinebookies.info/paddypower/ where you will find detailed reviews of the leading online bookmakers.

The current favourite in the betting to be the next Spurs manager is Simone Inzaghi. The Italian is currently manager of Lazio in Serie A and he has guided them to a 6th place finish in the league, meaning Europa League group stage qualification. Inzaghi would be an interesting choice as he has yet to manage any club other than Lazio in his short career. In terms of management, Inzaghi started with the Lazio youth team before being named the interim coach of the senior team in 2016. In his first season in charge, Inzaghi took Lazio to the final of the Coppa Italia and finished 5th in the league.

Lazio lost out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2017/18 season and in the following campaign, Inzaghi led Lazio to Coppa Italia success. There was continued progress for Lazio under the guidance of Inzaghi as they finished fourth in Serie A at the end of the 2019/20 season and qualified for the Champions League.

So, Inzaghi has certainly shown plenty of promise at the Stadio Olimpico but is he the manager who is going to take Spurs back to a top four place in the Premier League? He has no experience of the Premier League, as a player or manager and that may prove a stumbling block a Spurs aim to quickly re-establish themselves at the top of the English game.

Next in the betting to become the next Spurs manager we have Graham Potter. This is interesting because Potter has been struggling near the foot of the Premier League table with Brighton and Hove Albion this season. There is no doubt Potter likes to play an attractive brand of football and that will be something the Spurs fans demand of the new manager. His first season in charge or Brighton can be labelled a success as the club recorded their highest points and goals total in the Premier League. If the Seagulls manage to take anything from their final match of the 2020/21 season, they will surpass the points total of last season, meaning Potter has built on the foundation of the previous campaign.

Potter is seen by many as one of the best up and coming coaches in the English game, with fresh ideas. It would be a risk to appoint him as the new manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the potential rewards could be great.

Moving on and we come to current Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers. He has just taken his Leicester City team to the FA Cup final, where they defeated Chelsea 1-0 and the Foxes are battling for a place in the Champions League next season. Rodgers has proven during his time at the King Power Stadium he has what it takes to mix it with the big boys in the Premier League. There is no doubt he has the potential to be a big success at a top club like Spurs, having learnt from his time as Liverpool manager. However, Rodgers clearly has a strong bond with Leicester City and it would take a lot for him to part with the club this summer.

Some of the other names on the shortlist include Erik Ten Hag, Scott Parker, Roberto Martinez, Hansi Flick, and Ralph Hassenhuttl. One name that jumps out from that list is Flick, the current manager of Bayern Munich. The German led the Bundesliga club to Champions League success last season and has won the title in both of his two seasons in charge at the Allianz Arena. Flick is leaving the club at the end of the season, meaning he is available.

Spurs fans are most likely to want a major trophy winner managing their club, such as Flick but right now, Inzaghi and Potter seem the more likely candidates for the job.
