Match Spam vs Thee Mighty Tottenham Hotspur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would loov it, just loov it, if their fans started an AFC Wet Spam.

I think it could happen. One of several nightmare scenarios for the 2 Daves. Take the club back to its roots etc. Another year or 2 of crap served up in their "home" matches, more relegation fights, going down to the Championship....

Since they beat us in this fixture last year we have got better. They have lost the advantage of their ground,Payet and Antonio is injured. It would be a shock if we lost.

Rivalries aside... and following on from B-0-Sspurs B-0-Sspurs post, I was just thinking what a combined Tottenham/West Ham team would look like (by that, I mean those who have played for both clubs, not a mix of players currently playing, or else it would just be 10 of ours + Mark Noble... and Mark Noble would only be there to tie Harry Winks' laces!) Obviously all the players would be in their prime... but the 'Those who played for both XI' looks half decent:

C.Hughton - N.Ruddock - M.Thomas
S.Parker - M.Carrick - P.Allen
M.Peters - T.Sheringham - L.Ferdinand - J.Defoe - J.Greaves

Subs:
S.Rebrov
C.Allen
Mido (yeah, I'd forgotten too!)
F.Kanoute
M.Etherington
J.Moncur
B.Zamora
R.Keane
I.Dumitrescu

Admittedly, it's a little attack heavy and not a GK amongst them.. so might mean we play a 0-3-3-5 formation...
But I imagine we could stick Mido between the sticks, he probably takes up most of the goal these days!

...I reckon we'd give most a game. What do you all think?

Obviously for a combined team, we'd have to change the name, so i was thinking of using the 'Totten' from our club's name, ... add it to the 'ham' from West Ham' and create a brand new team; TOTTENHAM!

Tony Parks?

DAMMIT!! I knew there was one!

...yes, of course Tony Parkes... which means we have to drop a midfielder or attcker...
oh decisions, decisions... still, it's a good problem to have! I'm going with a 3-4-3...

So here y'go... a full TOTTEN-HAM XI:
[formation=343, T.Parkes, C.Hughton, N.Ruddock, M.Thomas, P.Allen, S.Parker, M.Carrick, M.Peters, T.Sheringham, J.Greaves, J.Defoe][/formation]

...actually, joking aside, that's a pretty good fucking team right there!!

Can't be too complacent about this game. They will have been preparing for this for the last couple of months. They'll have used the previous few games to experiment with different formations. Their last two games have been 0-0 and they set up to defend in those games to practice stopping us from scoring.

I get that this game is important...title chase, Champions League Group stage, they're nobs, best season and all that jazz but the most important thing is that it means I win my standing every season bet with 2 scouse-loving work colleagues! They're great guys but they let themselves down with their choice of team and I love taking their money when we finish above them! See it as a nice little earner these days!

I get the feeling that WHU (players and fans) will try to do to us what Chelsea managed to at about exactly the same stage last season...
Put us off our game, distract us into silly petty reactions that don't help our cause, and all with the sole aim of ensuring we take our eye off the most important thing;
THE MATCH ITSELF!

Well, West Ham are no Chelsea in terms of quality, and an ability to wind us up...
but, more importantly, in the last 12 months or so, we have grown into a classier, mentally stronger outfit that I don't think (or at least hope) would react to such 'bait'!

They're about to meet a very different Spurs tonight!

Westham fans are genuinely excited about a meaningless game for them really. They pretty much certain won't go down and will finish in the bottom half having a right shit season. But they are treating this game like a cup final bless them. Whilst we are so excited to try and close the gap on Chelsea for the title. Westham are excited because they feel they can derail our title challenge. So small time and pathetic.

Totally different situation. The thing that really riled our players was knowing Chelsea would let Leicester get the the result they needed instead of it being a game they could potentially lose points in, so it was all done by that point.

If such a thing as karma truly exists then Chelsea will fail to win any of their last 4 games and we'll win the title at Leicester.

how Chelsea didn't get done for it is beyond belief

It is indeed their only motivation. I can't get my head around that mentality, thank god I've never had too.
