Ex-Spurs Player Kyle Walker

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The valuations are way off.

Whilst I think Levy would sell to City, I don't think they'll ever match the figure Levy values him at.

If he does stay, I wonder if Poch will think twice about the loan policy because KWP could do with a loan to a fellow Premier League team if he isn't going to see in front of Walker and Trippier or Davies and Rose.

You do know that Pochettino doesn't loan out players he rates.

I'd have KWP over Tripps any day of the week. He can defend better than him, dribble past players (something Trips simply can't do), he also covers two positions, left and right, although I think he would be found out at this level if he was played left (he can't cross when out left, although he can still dribble). See ya Trips.

Manchester City are set to begin talks with Tottenham over the potential signing of Kyle Walker, according to Sky (the company that also controls SkyBet - "Kyle Walker is now odds-on to join Manchester City this summer, with Sky Bet reporting strong backing for the right-back to leave Tottenham.")

Sky Sports News HQ understands that City's approach could come as early as this week, following England's international against France on Tuesday.

Manager Pep Guardiola is thought to be confident of landing the England right-back and hopes to strike a deal for as little over £40m as possible.

But Tottenham, who gave Walker a new five-year contract last September, are under no pressure to sell the 27-year-old and are understood to value Walker at closer to £50m.

City are certainly unaware of any increase in Spurs' valuation towards £60m, which was cited by several newspapers over the weekend.

Sky sources claim Walker is relaxed about his future, and is not agitating for a move away from a club at which he has spent the past eight years and harbours a deep affection for.

But he is understood to have been unhappy at not being selected for particular games towards the end of the season, as manager Mauricio Pochettino rotated him with Kieran Trippier.

Trippier, who is now rivalling Walker for the England right-back role, improved as the season has progressed and has proven himself a long-term first-choice in the position for Spurs.

City are therefore hoping to tempt Walker to the Etihad by offering to make him their primary right-back (because he will be able to play 50 games per season under Guardiola)
That last bit is utter bollocks. Since Trippier has come in, 2 years ago, Walker has been rotated constantly, just as Rose is. He was rotated at the end of the season too, it was almost alternate games. It is also still clear that Walker is number one choice given the games he was selected to play. The only question mark was the FA Semi-final, but it's clear that the higher importance was place on the league rather than the cup (yeah, yeah blah, blah fans don't see it that way, but that is the fact).

This is all basically Citeh doing a Liverpool, using the press to communicate their intent. I will bet no content has been made, the wording suggests that's the case too. Thanks for letting us know, look forward to your phone call on Wed., you will not even get past switchboard.

Walker started our first 27 league games.

After that though, he never played more than 1 game in a row.

Failing to start in the final 3 games of the season. Not sure why, considering we had 3 games in 7 days. I put that down to his head not being right and Pochettino doing the right thing.

That's called rotation.

He was rotated once in the league in 8 months. Suddenly, talk of City come about and he starts 2 of our last 7 in all competitions?

People always bring up the Adebayor, Townend, Kaboul scenarios but they were different. Two of them thought they were better then what they were and the other pushed a member of staff.

Pochettino was simply giving Trippier more game time whilst not alienating Walker. He knows Walker is valuable, whereas the other three were pretty useless and that the door was always open for him.

I don't think they fell our with each other. I just think Pochettino was probably annoyed that at that stage of the season, it could be seen as unprofessional (if it's true of course)

Why twist the narrative to "League games in 8 months" (conveniently missing out other competitions), then All competitions in last 7? He was rotated in ALL competitions.

Because league games are generally more important and your best players are rarely rested for them when they don't need to be.

Hence why it's strange he wouldn't start in any of the final three games of the season, when Trippier hasn't started thee games in a row since 2015.

Funnily enough, all after the Walker/Poch disagreement supposedly happened.

Me too, but none of the players you mentioned were good enough. Walker clearly is. Poch hasn't had to handle a genuine 1st team player with a bit of a strop on until (perhaps) now. All pure speculation of course.

This is what I agree with.

Kaboul, Adebayor and Townsend were all disposable. All have been battling lower league football since leaving us for a reason.

Walker is important and Pochettino knows his impact. He was never going to alienate him completely. Simple flexing his muscles as you put it as a way of saying that no one is bigger than the club, but we want you part of this journey.

What disagreement? The one that Man City are peddling? As far as anyone is concerned, The Club, Poch and the player there have been zero disagreements. Wonder why Poch would break the habit of a lifetime and play someone he has had a disagreement with??

So, someone peddles a disagreement and Walker suddenly stops starting games. Cool.

Just a big coincidence I guess. Never mind.

Some were our designated Club Captains though. Then Danny Osvaldo whilst at Southampton, he brought him in, he was regular first team selection, Poch dropped him like a hot potato when Osvaldo throw his first punch.
