I just hope Pochettino is a tad less discerning than some posters on here.

No one is good enough it seems.
If a Poch listened to this forum, so far we'd have signed:

Sessengon 20M
Barkley 40-50M
King 25M
Mawson 25M
Lemar 45M
Silva 40M
Meyer 25M
Costa 60M
Zaha 20M
Siggy at 20M

Plus pay our current crop what the likes of City are paying.

Some people genuinely see that as a realistic and possible window. It's beyond farce.

I think that is a massive exaggeration. I don't think anyone on here sees what you have described as a realistic window.
On that list - I would say Meyer, Lemar, Barkley and perhaps Costa to a lesser extent are the only players who have been discussed on these pages with genuine optimism.
RE wages - why don't we give Alderwiereld a salary in line with our top earners? Surely that's what the league's best defender deserves? Or would you prefer he depart.
I think there are very few viable options out there, transfer wise - given the success of our first team squad. However, I think frustrations held by many RE the lack of movement are more than justified.

Stop with this agenda that If some of us want to strengthen the squad it means we want to spend 100s of million, nobody has said sign all of these players. Don't know why you constantly try to make out like this is the case, Costa was discussed because he went for 44 mil which we know we could afford had we got him nobody would be screaming for a lemar or a siggy or a barkley and you know this. You think our squad is currently the best in the world and cannot be improved we all know that but stop trying to act like pple who think we can be strengthened want us to spend ridiculous money.

We need better depth. What's the point of making the CL, but not fielding a team that can get out of the group? It's just a waste. Get some players in that can be rotated. I'm tired of having a first team and a third team.

Just a stronger squad of players who are able to compete at the high levels required and now surely expected.

Hard to believe for one solitary moment that Pochettino sees the failure to even get out of the Champions League group as bridgeable simply through experience alone.

Each day however that we buy nobody just reeks of a lack of decisiveness and a rush to panic buys towards the end of August.

Doesn't seem like a guy who's easily rattled.

I genuinely believe he loves playing the part of underdog.

I know everyone wants one more "game-changing" player, myself included, but besides Sissoko there isn't a lot of dead weight on this club.

He's pretty much said that verbatim.

How many managers last long or look happy doing the "buy a squad" line? I'm also quite sure they have more interference (let's be honest - who thinks Mourinho wants half the players he's given?)

And in my opinion the best way to strengthen the squad is not to buy people to warm the bench but to buy a quality player to compete with a player who thinks he's got a first team place locked down, Chuck them half a pool cue each and tell them it's time for try outs.
The idea that players good enough for our first XI will all be unaffordable is not true. Those players have moved and will move between clubs of our stature.

What happened with the Max Mayer rumours? Seem to have just petered out but could've sworn te reason he'd have been cut price was due to 12 months left on the contract

Well maybe they don't see it as realistic......it doesn't stop them from digging out Levy every time a rumoured signing doesn't happen though.

I'm pretty sure there are posters who you could find that have said at some point "we should get him in" for every single player I just listed.

So while they might not expect all of them, they still think that anyone linked with us on twitter is an actual target, and if it doesn't happen then Levy has stabbed Poch in the back and next season will be a disaster

I don't get it.

If Pochettino feels his young squad is capable of competing why not just trust him?
What makes you think Poch thinks that? He maybe as frustrated as we are that his targets are not being secured due to high transfer fees, high wage demands or players not wanting to come to Spurs. I think he does want to strengthen as he clearly was unhappy with some players and sanctioned sale of Walker.

Thats quite funny.

I've said from day one the squad can and should be improved. By replacing deadwood like Njie with trusted players we actually use.

I've also said I'd prefer the likes of Wimmer to play but I trust Poch and if they are not in his plans they should be replaced by players he will play.

Now the issue I have with some people is that they have said the first 11 needs improving. So while I don't think we can step up there ( although the sale of Walker has slightly changed that, I'd still be happy to go with Trippier and KWP) I do however feel the SQUAD can be improved.

It's funny that other people have changed their original hysterical demands for "2-3" players who can "immediately improve the stating 11" and tried to merge their argument to "the squad can be improved".

That was my point from day one, which you sneaky lot are now trying to downgrade to I think our "squad can't be improved on".

Edwards getting game time for Njie or maybe even Nkoudo going out for me would be a fantastic addition next season.
Some would see that as small time and defeatist and would like to buy Lemar for 40M instead.

Good for them, we have very different views on how we would go forward. I'm enjoying the coaching and academy side of our policy more than signing expensive one season wonders for silly money.

That could well be for other reasons though.

He's quite protective of his "family" unit, so he's equally as enthusiastic to move on those he doesn't want as he would be cautious of those he brings in.

The whole plan could be to clear space for this coming season's versions of Winks/Mason etc.
