I'm bemused by the vitriol towards him still. Reading SC, people are comparing him to Adebayor and talking about him like he's Pol Pot.

I mean, what has he done wrong? As far I can see, despite not being very effective last season, he's been trying hard off the pitch and has knuckled down?
He puts in at least as much effort as Soldado did, who received way more support. Only difference is Soldado looked a broken man in his face every time he missed a sitter.

Sissoko also contributes more than RS did and arguably contributed as much as Janssen.

Makes me think it could be race related tbh. Not like he's a cunt off the pitch or anything.

Adebayor comparisons are a joke.

And how many were stars before we bought them? Also, I am laughing that you included VdV and Lamela. Both title winning sides, Hoddle, Bale, Modric, Kane, Dele, Gilzean, King, and Nicholson would argue my case. As does our trophy cabinet.

We don't buy success, we make it.
Van der Vaart and Lamela were both stars, especially the former.

We didn't "Make Modric", he'd been Croatian player of the year twice running and made the 2008 Euros team of the tournament. The season before, Barcelona, Arsen*l and Chelsea had all tried to sign him, the fact that he was our joint record signing (with Darren Bent) should tell you we were buying a big name, not a rough prospect.

Basically, it's because I think he's shit

And no, that isn't race related, what a truly bizarre comment

Dunno about race, but I think it's because he looks serious and moody.

If he made that Soldado crying face every time he misplaced a pass (which is far less often than Soldado missed an open goal), more people would warm to him.

However if he has a massive season next year, his moodiness will be embraced with BA Baracus type gifs and suddenly everybody "loves having a cunt in the team"

Another 60M euro defender for Pep The Goat Genious Guardiola. Disgusting.
"Under Pep's orders".

He'd better savour the next year then, because he won't be getting those for too long.
:pochserious:

Edit: I hope Man City keep spending (so long as it's not on any more of our players/usurping us to a target). It's genuinely embarassing at this point... all that money and they've found themselves in a position where they need a complete squad overhaul. Morons.

No It's not like that.
Walker was sold, he was first choice for the last few seasons so simply need to buy a replacement or a back up to Trippier. KWP is not ready for the PL. Simple.
Im sorry, i think i worded that wrong. Its not that i dont want to sign anybody. More like it was meant for the wholesome of like 200 pages of arguing about how money = success. I think we can sign players for decent money that could be better than the ones City buy for mega millions.

i.e Wanyama vs Chavs Kante. Think about it. Wanyama cost like 3x less and is arguably on the same level, maybe better maybe worse a bit.

I wholeheartely think we most of the time know (not counting sissoko) what are we doing. Seriosly..City bough a goalkeeper for 35 something odd million right. I bet there are shitloads of better keepers for lesser money available.

He wasn't a star before we turned him into one, he was a youth prospect. Lamela was the same. VdV was not really a star either, given he couldn't get a game at Real Madrid.

Several of our record signings have been bets on young players who were not stars. Chivers was also a 23-year old with a history of lower league performances. The fact that we spent on youth doesn't make them stars. It just makes us smarter for doing so.

Your argument is contradicted by the historical record.

As was N'jie and many others in their first season, yet they don't get the same treatment.

Sissoko has been training prior to pre season in order to get a head start on things, but no one is talking about the merits of that.
In fairness, Sissoko is 27 (28 in less than a month) and was often so poor that I genuinely believe we would have been better with ten men on the pitch.

At least with a younger prospect, there's far more hope that they'll improve - the best we can hope for Sissoko is "I guess he was okay in this game".

scott scott Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive Dilfy Dilfy You guys are hilarious - Scott has bored the fucking pants off everyone with his 'spend big' argument. It was almost like he'd found a pet. Yeah, yeah, I know, just hit the disagree button in your impotent rage.
"You have to spend big to win things"
"Show me a team that has won regularly and not spent big"

This shit for 3 straight days and some 50 pages and all of a sudden its:

"WHO SAID THAT!?"

Fucking hell, so he doesn't want us to spend big? So he doesn't want us to win things as thats the only way according to him??

What a crock of absolute shit. Bactracking muppets who don't have the bollocks to stand for their opinions, so they pretend it was never their view in the first place.

What's the point in them posting?

Spurs' total net spend over the last seven transfer windows: £150.25M.
Man City’s total gross spend on full-backs this month: £128.5M.

Failure to win the league should see Pep sacked.

The historical record is that the 23 year old "youth prospect" Modric had been Croatian player of the year two years running, sought by Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsen*l the previous season and one of the star performers at the 2008 Euros.

Just because you'd never heard of him...

As for "not really a star" Van der Vaart who "couldn't get a game at Real Madrid", he played 42 games in his first season and 31 in his injury-punctuated second (in which most thought he played better than in his first). This in competition with Kaká, who you probably don't count as a star either.

Now, what were you saying about the historical record?

scott said:

"Exactly. Its the only way I am afraid.
Until we do that we won't regularly be winning titles."

Ha ha. I said we need to spend big if we want to regularly win titles. It is the only way for any team to do it.
I never said I want us to spend big or that we should be expecting to spend like the big boys & equally I don't expect us to be winning titles considering our position in the wealth pecking order.

Is that the best you could do? Take a comment on what we would need to do to regularly win titles.
& then twist it in to me saying we should spend big & that I want us to spend big!

Keep looking & see if you can actually find a quote where I say I want us to spend big. Not one saying spending big is the only way we can win titles.
Which I believe is true by the way.

When has scott said we needed to spend big? You're a horrible liar tbh
Exactly. The best he could find was a quote of me saying the only way we could win regularly titles is to spend big.
Which is what I have said all along for every team in the premiership.
He has some how twisted that in to me saying we must spend big & I expect us to be winning titles.

Just like he lied & said I wanted to change 5 or 6 players with no quote to back up that claim/lie.

Just ignore their lies with no evidence or posts to back it up with.
Let them believe their lies if it makes them happy.

Scott we have to walk before we can run, one would conclude that winning the title would be the biggest expectation of Spurs fans at the moment, not regularly winning titles. In Poch we Trust!
