Scott we have to walk before we can run, one would conclude that winning the title would be the biggest expectation of Spurs fans at the moment, not regularly winning titles. In Poch we Trust!
Exactly. Don't know why people are so upset if you say we shouldn't be expecting us to regularly do it.
3rd & 2nd was overachieving in my eyes.

The historical record is that the 23 year old "youth prospect" Modric had been Croatian player of the year two years running, sought by Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsen*l the previous season and one of the star performers at the 2008 Euros.

Just because you'd never heard of him...
He was still a prospect. Not yet an established player at club in a large European league. It wasn't a case of not hearing about them, it's about hearing of them as what? By your criteria then, Dele Alli was an established star when we signed him.

As for "not really a star" Van der Vaart who "couldn't get a game at Real Madrid", he played 42 games in his first season and 31 in his injury-punctuated second (in which most thought he played better than in his first). This in competition with Kaká, who you probably don't count as a star either.

Now, what were you saying about the historical record?
Still says the same thing. We don't buy stars, we make them. Sorry your not happy that the club does it this way.

Manchester City have now spent £309.6m on defenders and goalkeepers alone since 2014/15. (Source: @MatchoftheDave)

I am concentrating my sense of disappointment at Guardioka who is clearly showing developnent of homegrown players is not on his agenda. Mind you the owners won't care if he brings whatever it is they crave.

It is where the Premier League and their greed, plus us fans need our heads banging together.

We all create the monster.

Exactly. The best he could find was a quote of me saying the only way we could win regularly titles is to spend big.
Which is what I have said all along for every team in the premiership.
He has some how twisted that in to me saying we must spend big & I expect us to be winning titles.

Just like he lied & said I wanted to change 5 or 6 players with no quote to back up that claim/lie.

Just ignore their lies with no evidence or posts to back it up with.
Let them believe their lies if it makes them happy.

Don't be so pedantic. It's obvious what you meant.

But Scott if we are having senior first team players coming out and saying publicly that there should not be a big necessity to sign players in a rush and that they believe the current squad can do the job what does that say to you? Certainly that they do not believe they are overachieving?

Van der Vaart and Lamela were both stars, especially the former.

We didn't "Make Modric", he'd been Croatian player of the year twice running and made the 2008 Euros team of the tournament. The season before, Barcelona, Arsen*l and Chelsea had all tried to sign him, the fact that he was our joint record signing (with Darren Bent) should tell you we were buying a big name, not a rough prospect.
Rafa's star had fallen mightily the season before we bought him. He had started a 3rd of games and had a huge falling out with Pellegrini.

But we proved last season we couldn't juggle both the league and CL. I can't believe people are agreeing with this that we don't need signings. We do most definitely need signings and we need to add to our squad. It's ridiculous if we are the only club in the whole league not to have made a single signing.
Posts claiming Don Corleone Don Corleone wants Spurs to to a Leeds / Wants to spunk 200 million on Messi and Ronaldo / wants to jeopardise the stadium.... imminent

I'm bemused by the vitriol towards him still. Reading SC, people are comparing him to Adebayor and talking about him like he's Pol Pot.

I mean, what has he done wrong? As far I can see, despite not being very effective last season, he's been trying hard off the pitch and has knuckled down?
I've never thought Sissoko was the poor footballer or the cunt everyone was making out. Just looked like a player totaly bereft of confidence. Almost came across as quite lonely. I reckon he could still be a player for us.

Each to their own. I wouldn't see 4th as under achieving next season.

Yep. No quote where it says I want us to spend big or change 5 or 6 players.
You just make up stuff, jump to conclusions & make assumptions.

Yes, like sammy you know better than the individual person themselves what they mean. You have some special skills.

We all want the same thing I think and most of us appear to not want to go the City and Chelsea route to get there although a part of me wonders what we would do if a spendaholic owner took over.

I just want us to stay competitive but also hold a touch of the moral high ground in a hypocritical kind of paradoxical fashion.

A trophy and top 4 or another real run at the Premier would be fine.

I just don't think we are set up for it at present.

I am sure it will change before the season starts and yes, before it is said, I enjoy the idea of a paradise holiday because it would be special. The analogy?

Buying success takes away some but not all the enjoyment.

It's perfectly obvious what you mean. You're a Spurs fan right? Presumably you want to win titles? You've spent a week telling everyone you need to spend big to win titles, and you're now denying that you want us to spend big? What exactly do you want us to do? Not win anything to prove you're correct?

The irony of Scott saying other people lie.
read below for all you need to know why I won't waste my time in arguing with you.

Except that the teams who regularly win titles spend big.
Let me know when you come up with a team who regularly wins titles without spending big. Utd still spent big under saf.
Your other examples are from abroad & not that recent.

How many of those big spenders won whilst building a £800m stadium? It certainly wasn't Woolwich or City.

what has that got to do with my argument that you need to spend big to regularly win titles. irrelevant as usual.
I take it I am not on ignore anymore. More lies!
