Match The mighty Tottenham Hotspur v. Plastic chavs

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think today showed why a few of us have said since the last kick of last season that some changes are needed but also that we are not good as some people think.

It is always fine margins and easy to say if this or that had happened but it didn't but it was also Chelsea, who are never a walkover for us. The shame is that we took the pressure off them which would have ramped up had we won.

I don't see us or them being in the top w this season but ours is more playing at Wembley than anything else.

Somewhat deflated at present and not too sure what to expect this season after today. It might be me but something feels not quite right.

I really could have done without that stat.
:pochsulk:
Sorry... just saw it on BBC myself!
FUCKING life huh?
God spent the past 20 years being a Gooner... now it turns out he's a Nazi cunt after all!
Hitler had it right all along.. . There's no hope for any of us!
There may be drink involved in my warped rationale... so please pay no attention to me!

The fact that I'm pissed with your clueless comments does not mean I am revelling in Wanyama's fuckload of errors. I am furious because of his performance, not happy about it. The fact that my observations were correct and I wanted to point that out to you because of your usual combination of ignorance and arrogance does not mean I am happy. I was fucking fuming at the end of the game.

We deserved a lot more, and needed more. But were fucked by a very sloppy Wanyama.
wanyama has always been accident prone. Great tackler though. frustrating player

Apart from he shouldn't have thrown it to a tiring, unfit player who was marked by Luiz in the middle of the field 10-15 yds from our area

He threw it too quickly and didn't think about it

By this stage Wanyama was fucked which was Poch's fault for not subbing him at half time

Like I said earlier a bad day at the office and we deserved something from the game

Marked by Luiz who immediately read his intention to pass to Sissoko, easy intercept. I do wonder at times how senior players show their experience, Hugo can observe everyone from his position, but he still picks out a tired and out of sorts Wanyama to throw the ball to.

Dele kept having to come to the left and look for the ball because we didn't have an outlet on the left. Davies was not getting forward at all hence we rarely had anyone on the left but Dele.

Ive never bought that kind of argument that Dele was poor due to Davies not doing his job.....who told Dele to go left wing? I doubt Poch did, so if he took that decision on his own, it was a poor decision, and he did nothing good out there anyway.

Unless you're saying we should sell Lloris and Wanyama, you're using confirmation bias to validate utter bollocks here

Alli and Eriksen lacked that bit of pace, hence they will always cut back or try to win corners by blasting the ball at opponent legs. Alli did well a couple of occasions when he nutmegged opponent but like everyone in the team, when in possesion cant play that thru ball as no one is fast enough to make that run.

Kane and Dembele are hardly quick, yet kept on plugging away and driving through the opposition at will.

Dele and Eriksen simply chose the easy backwards pass every time

On train home, not going to lie but feel robbed again. Not melting but just feel we need some breaks against these twats. Weve conceded 6 goals from 6 shots against them now and been the better team in both games. Roll on next week - let's get the first 3pts at 'home' under our belts

Not that you implied is, but I don't think early signings would have made a bit of difference today.
Injuries aside, I can guarantee our best starting 11 at the end of the season will include at least 2 new signings. Maybe it just wasn't our day, but I am fed up of Spurs signing players so late in the window who join without a preseason with the rest of the team and eventually get up to speed. How many times has penny pinching cost us valuable points at the beginning of the season!

I'm not sure we would have started any new signings of today's lineup regardless, though. Maybe tweaked our subs at best.

Out greatest threat last season was how the wingbacks created space opened up play . Davis, Tripps are ok but don't have the devastation factor of an inform Rose/Walker.
With Walker out there today we would have been a better team .

I was there today. Alonso was super clinical. What a bitch!
I'm afraid to say that pace is our achiles heel. Even Dier aint that quick and we are slow across the midfield.
Sanchez can come straight in and every player we bring in now has to be pacy as we are too pedestrian.

I do not know where to start for today, except I cannot lay the blame at anyone. We lost, but the fans rocked up and the players tried and on another day it was 1-1 and no one crys.

To try ( and I have to try hard ) to dig out why the game went away from us, my feeling is it was mental. All week it was the same narrative, best time to play Chelsea, never a better time...blah blah. That's the problem. There is never a good / bad time. You just need to be committed to being the best you can be and try as hard as you can to win. Nothing's won in newspapers or on Sky. The tempo at the start felt a bit half hearted and that I think cost us.

Self belief is important. But self honestly is also important. We came up short. It's a shame. But it's not terminal.

Oof- that one hurt, especially after looking like we'd at least snatch a draw. Not really sure what the rush was to get the ball back out in that situation leading to the last goal, but we should never be letting Marco f-ing Alonso score the winning goal on us! Someone should have tracked his run into the box...

We've got plenty of talent but need to show better gamesmanship in the end of games, especially when points are at stake.

Bloody frustrating. Yet again just don't seem to get the breaks against those fuckers.

The bench needs some serious improving though, as not enough game-changers on there. The less said about Sissoko the better...
