this sounds strange but, are we in any danger of the home grown rule this season?

without checking, dier, winks and dele don't qualify, do they? well, dier doesn't but not sure about the other two.

trippier, rose, davies, kane

that can't be it, surely? is it a problem?

There's no "danger" with it.

You don't have to have a certain number of HG players, you just have a limit on how many non-HG "over 21" players you can register.

In all fairness though we are up against teams like Man U that can afford £90m players and 300k per week wages, a team that can throw £70m on a bloke who couldn't get in the Real Madrid first team, one owned by a Sheikh and the other one that's able to smash their transfer record on a player that won't even play for them for a year.

I do think that after we get the core of our squad in that we should be increasing wages however. Get Foyth, Aurier and a real wizard in midfield in this summer, job done, then sort out new contracts for the core nucleus who hopefully would have seen enough with our transfer activity to see we are going in the right direction, then get deals for Sessegnon and Barkley sorted in January.

New deals for Alderweireld, Alli, Eriksen and Kane top of the pile for me. Give them what they deserve in today's market because if you don't, a little bit of their head will be somewhere else, that's just a natural thing.

Keep the nucleus together, if we don't we go back to being a mid table team. Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Alderweireld are for me the most vital to keep to build around. They are simply irreplaceable compared to all others and should be treated as such
You could add Jan to that list for new deals, he's got a year less than Toby

Oh yeah thanks. How much we recouped this summer now - must be close to 100 million at least.

Must be extremely careful.

As for on a whim do me a favour. We have no plan. Clear as fcuking day.

Not having a go but 2 days before the window closes and no doubt scrabbling for players.

Was Sissoko for example bought on a whim or with plan aforethought? And again this is without judgement of the player who is clearly trying to win over his manager and the fans?
What favour do you need buddy?

I'm no miracle worker but I'll see what I can do for you if you need any help.

I hate it when opposition fans say this crap, never mind our own.

It's been some 9 or 10 years before we finished outside of European spots, back when Dele was only just starting secondary school.

The games changed now. You have to keep players like Eriksen, Alli and Kane happy you can't just gut teams out and rebuild time and time again. Spurs should never have to rebuild again IMO. They should always add one or two places to keep it churning over. Our transfer policy from now on should be how trigger was with his broom (RIP Trig)

I really don't want to use them as an example but look what's happening to that lot down the road. They had a policy, they fucked it and now they are throwing money when the competition is far greater because they dropped the ball. We cannot drop the ball after how far we've come, it's imperative

I respectfully don't agree with you on this one. I think the squad will want to play at the new stadium together, at least for the first season back.
I don't think I made myself clear, I said this was my fear and I now feel that the window is a limited success. I will feel the same way next year, if we manage to keep the team together.

If we continue to challenge I think we will be successful (with the new stadium being one of the factors) but if we drop down to the next "mini league" of Everton / Woolwich / Spurs and finish 5th I think a few will be tempted to leave regardless of the stadium.

I don't understand this weird attitude - it's exactly the same thing John Thomas keeps dreaming up so he has something to moan about.
  • Eriksen isn't unhappy
  • Dele isn't unhappy
  • Kane isn't unhappy
They all signed new contracts less than 12 months ago.

No offence, but it really fucks me off that we're in such a good position, yet some people are seemingly so desperate to get the pitchforks out that they're making up a crisis that doesn't exist.

We're not that lot down the road NONE (for emphasis) of our players are running down contracts. Not one. Nada. Zero.
