West Ham - League cup game

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fucking hell some of you don't half like a good whinge and clearly know more than Poch!

Ffs, you're like a load of old women.*

*Sorry ladies!
Well, Poch put out a team to win the game and was unhappy with the performance. So those frustrated at the loss are actually more on Poch's side than those saying the competition is irrelevant and it is better to be out of it.

No, and we won’t be if we go all out for this every year. We’ve got much bigger games on Saturday and Wednesday against two of the biggest clubs in the world. Would you risk those games by starting the 1st team last night?
no...but i think the team that started last night should have been enough to win and still leave us strong on sat and wed...i get where you are coming from but i still would like to win something even if only to stop the constant reminder from everyone that we haven't won anything in nearly a decade

We either want to be a serious club and manager or we don't.

Yesterday was arrogance beyond acceptance in my book.

We are a serious club with a serious manager

Last Sunday I was very proud of the way we took apart the Dippers with the score line flattering them

Much prouder than if we had lifted this tin pot trophy

Why the disagree Cunto?

Eh?

Well of course he wasn't pleased but if he'd really been that bothered he wouldn't have played both Fourth and Davies as part of a back three nor would he have made such belated and baffling substitutions.

We still should have won but their comeback surprised us. They were goddamn awful in that first half!

Anyway we're out now, move onto the next game.

Has the draw been made yet?! Utter farce.

Yet there is no credible argument in this thread so far as to why we can't do both. It is advanced on the false idea that we have to play our first team to win the League Cup. That's bullshit.

We’d all like to win something, just some of us would like to win some things more than others.

And winning this joke cup won’t stop anyone from reminding us that that’s all we’ve done. Winning the league will do that, and that’s what we’re trying to do. Going hard for the league cup would hinder our chances in the league.

Yes it is but I was just expressing a preference

Some clever chap put together a chart showing we were the most consistent team over the last two seasons and it wasn’t even close

I would prefer that to finishing lower and winning a tin pot cup

Of course I would like to have both same as I would like to be stuck in a lift with Scarlet Johanssen but life ain’t like that

Answer me this...

Why does a League Cup 4th round loss define the seriousness of Spurs to you and not a draw away the current 2x CL holders and beating Liverpool 4-1?

Because I want us to be ruthless and for us to create and instill fear and respect whoever we play and whenever we play them.

Give nothing should be our mantra.

Yesterday we loosened the noose and we now have no quarter-final place and an opponent who will see 2 down against us when they come to Wembley in the league as retrievable.

We need to learn how to win things. I have said earlier that this is the hurdle Pochettino must overcome.

Playing a rotation squad in a weaker competition doesn't mean that the manager doesn't care a shit about winning the competition. He was bothered. He just thought that the rotation team he fielded was good enough - which they were.

Again, it is about accepting and understanding that a weaker squad for a less important competition doesn't mean that the competition is irrelevant or is not cared about by the manager or the fans. Poch still cared about it. The fans who say it doesn't matter are simply those that have succumbed to the fan arrogance engendered by our recent success. Well, I'm sorry to say that I personally don't feel our trophy record in the Premier League era truly justifies that arrogance. Nobosy is going to give a shit how good we were in five years time unless we start winning trophies, and that includes all the silverware available. Not just those we have decided we are good enough for and arrogantly thinking the rest are now below us. I have a real problem with this idea we have leapfrogged the cups. Ten years from now we could still be nearly men will no trophies. Will people still be saying the donestic cups are irrelevant relics of the past?

It means a lot less than it did, that much is obvious. It was the biggest thing for me when I was a kid, but I’m grown up now.

And it’s called the Emirates FA Cup - if the FA wanted to keep some of its prestige they should never allowed sponsorship. That’s what killed the League Cup.

MilkCup, LittlewoodsCup, Coca-ColaCup etc.... Very few seasons in my lifetime did it go un-sponsored.

Agree about the FA Cup tho.... FA branding should be enough.
