Yes I remember the Arabian Arms, not that I frequented. .... I was such an innocent back then I didn't realise it was a strip joint.
:)
When I was at school there was a pub called the birdcage on Gosset St. just outside the gates really.
They had those half curtains, used to have them drawn for stripping at lunch time.
We used to take turns to bunk up an look over the top.
Hoardes of us.
It was better than Health & Human Relations Class.

Porn mags were something you’d see if your mate had found his dads stash, or you’d find a few pages in the rubbish bin at the bottom of the block.

Just think.
Nowadays kids can see whatever they want at a click of a button.

About 6 yrs later.
It would have been Arabian Arms when you were there stripppers gaff owned by the Martins.
After that it was called Martins for a short while, then Beachcombers
If you’re wandering that far there’s the Axe another strip joint but less upmarket than Browns, on Hackney Rd lots of trendy eating places (Hoxton spillover) between there and Queensbridge Rd along with the obligatory Sainsbury’s / Tesco express. The council blocks are still there but the hipsters are outnumbering the latter day locals. There was a good local pub especially on football days The Albion (between Hackney Rd and Broadway Market) that’s gone all shishy is now a Fish & Ale pub no more football, Tuesday night quiz or week night darts.

ye olde Axe oppsite where Gemma McCluskie lived, who was murdered by her brother .Yes we used to go in there once in a while years ago. Before it was a strip place.
I had a mate who used to live over the other side in those old flats at the end of Columbia Road.
My school was down that way.
The Albion was opposite was just a minute from another haunt of ours in the midm80’s early 90s the old snooker hall of Whiston Road, Hay St

Whiston Rd is still there sadly the snooker hall is long gone, you’re spot on with the Albion only shut last summer, watched us crucify Hull on the last day of the season whilst taunting the Arse/ Pool fans had a good knees up after nice send off lots of locals (too many Arse shirts for my liking but that’s by the by)

I'm reading it whilst ottawans "D.I.S.C.O" is going round in my head.
Don't know why,but for some reason its seems appropriate .Not sure if its because it's happy music or just that it's utter shit :)
That's the one where the girl sings all about how great she is, "D Delectable, I Incredible" etc followed by her bloke with his view; "She is D Delerious, I Impossible" etc? Good tune.

Possibly West Ham reminded you of this because of the conflict between their high opinion of the club and the sad reality of results like yesterday? :allitongue::levylol::sonlol:
EDIT; For the younger posters;

Wasn't it the Metropolitan? seem to recall a Mate going in there once.
Didn't it use to be called the Turks Head?
Some of our more lively fans from Bethnal Green use to get in there(before my time).
I got to know them in the 90s from going away.
I actually got free drinks in there one night.Had a mate who was a stripper and she had an audition in there and asked me to go along as she didn't know the pub or the area,as she was from over the water in Woolwich
For some reason they didn't charge me for the beers i had.

I think they are talking about Metropolis. On the corner of Cambridge Heath and Bishops way,
As I said to Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman it was Arabian Arms in mid 70’s owned by Micky Martin wore glasses. Strippers in there then.
I think his son took over and it was then Martins and then Beachcombers before Metropolis.
Aint been down that way for a while, but I think it’s still a “gentleman’s club”

They are mate,as was i.Got my Turks head confused with my Arabians.

Over on kUMB they are justifying the spitting as players spit on the floor and roll about in it.
Also reckon 3 game ban is enough and he’s been made an example of, a poster boy for spitting offences.
He should be given the chance to apologise, and everyone move on.
Leg breaking tackles don’t need get as long, etc.

Well Vieira got a Sorry 4 game ban and few grand fine for gobbing on Ruddock a long time back, so it’s not abnormal.
Maybe spit on some West Ham fans fake stone island gear or all over the big brims of their peaky blinders caps ( oh, my old mans a dust man) next time, they don’t think it’s that bad.
Just apologise and cunt them off for making such a fuss.
