We have been punching above our weight for well over a decade now, I really do not understand this revionist mindset that this all being driven by Pochettinho.
He walked into a club that had routinely finished at least 5th in the league this decade and contained the likes of which forms the bulk of the side of today. Undoubtedly he has done a good job but he is just one component in the structure.
And I’m sorry but the whole squad argument simply does not wash, we have one of the best in the league, you only have to look at the bench on Saturday as testament to that.
The notion that we cannot win silverware due the financial disparity between us and elite is absolutely absurd when we currently posses a squad that is capable of competing with those sides. I find this line of argument utterly fatuous and it is one that I have read countless times today elsewhere.
I am supposed to believe that despite having a team which most consider superior to United’s yesterday’s loss should be expected due their greater financial strength? I mean WTF.
Yeah we routinely finished 5th.. And that was before Man City were splashing the oil cash and becoming a giant.
We finished 3rd and 2nd recently. The hardest thing to do is break into that top 4 and then it gets harder the higher up you go. Poch has worked miracles ffs.
The squad argument does apply. We went from the best fullbacks in the league to Davies and Trippier who have played well but are not going to win you titles.
Do you think United would be exactly where they are if they didn't offer Alexis those crazy wages in Jan?
As for inheriting Lloris, Vertonghen, Rose, Walker, Dembele, Kane, Eriksen and Lamela..
Vertonghen has been at his best now
Rose much improved after Poch as with Walker. He made them the best FBs in the league.
Dembele has shown us his best under Poch and some wanted rid before as with Lamela.
Think Poch helped Kane a bit too mate.
You are just a chequebook manager apologist.
