Now its the end of the Spurs u18's season - although they play a friendly on Saturday v Watford u18's and then link with the younger players in the Development Squad to play two u19 tournaments firstly in Germany and then Holland both in May), so perhaps time to make an educated guess on next seasons u18 intake. As this seasons intake was probably the largest we've seen, next seasons will be relatively small, maybe maximum 10 players and I'd guess :

1 Kacper Kurylowicz (Goalkeeper)
2 Luis Binks (Centre Back)
3 Malachi Walcott (Centre Back)
4 Dennis Cirkin (Left Back)
5 Harvey White (Centre Midfield)
6 Chay Cooper (Attacking Midfielder)
7 J'neil Lloyd-Bennett (Winger - played a lot this season for u18's)
8 Troy Parrott (Striker)
9 Enoch Asante (Striker)

Rafferty Pedder (Attacking Midfielder) has been out most of the season with injuries but if fit may also get a Scholarship.

Most of these played in the u17 tournament a couple of pages back, with Parrott being the standout goalscorer of the tournament,

#thfc I'm told Development Squad midfielder, Joe Pritchard who is to be released on 30 June is on trial at Cheltenham Town and is set to play for their reserves today.pic.twitter.com/d3xFcKC0tZ

Other Development Squad members rumoured to be off at the end of the season (or 30 June as that's when contracts run out) would be Tom Glover (GK), Christian Maghoma (CB), Shilow Tracey, Ryan Loft and maybe a few others such as Dylan Duncan who haven't played much in the u21's this season.

In terms of the Academy Year 2, Charlie Freeman (GK), Matt Lock (RB/RM) and Moroyin Omolabi (who may already have left) and even perhaps Tariq Hinds (LB/LM) look likely to leave.

Which would leave Jon de Bie (GK), TJ Eyoma (CB/RB) , Jon Dizeyi (CB), Tashan Oakley-Boothe (CM) Jamie Reynolds (mid/LB) and hopefully Reo Griffiths (striker) to join the Development squad next season.

Omolabi had his contract cancelled in February and has already joined and been playing for Reading. Lock will probably be off as haven't seen about for a while now. But can't see Freeman, Hinds or Duncan going.

Charlie Freeman has not played much in the 2 years he's been in the Academy (might be as little as 3 or 5 games over 2 years ?), and next season in the Development Squad there will be Alfie Whiteman, Brandon Austin and Jon De Bie as GK's and I can't see much game time for a 4th GK there, even if Whiteman or Austin goes on loan, and he'd be better off elsewhere if he's not playing again - so I'd be surprised if he stayed ?

Rumours a while ago that Hinds had declined to sign a contract (like Griffiths) which is why I put him as a leaver, but he's had a decent season so if he signs the contract he'll stay.

IMO the Development squad is looking a bit bloated, which is why I think one or two of the others who hasn't played much recently will leave - and I put forward Duncan as an example but it might not be him, could be someone else.

Expect this to be the list, though I wouldn't rule out us signing a player from abroad. Will be writing an in-depth preview of the players in pre season but in the meantime I thought I'd write a short piece on every player for those who don't know too much about them.

Kacper Kurylowicz (GK): Highly rated goalkeeper who has represented Poland at u15 level. Excellent shot stopper and all round keeper from what I've seen of him since u15 level.

Luis Binks (CB): Ball playing centre half who has previously represented Scotland at u15 and 16 level before opting to play for England who he is expected to play for at the u17 euros next month. Exciting defender who has an extraordinary Alderweireld-esque passing range, always looks very composed.

Malachi Walcott (CB) Another talented centre half, the tall and imposing Walcott has always impressed whenever I've seen him. He is an England u16 international who has made two appearances for Spurs u18's this season.

Dennis Cirkin (LB): Skilful left back who is currently an England u16 international.

Harvey White (CDM): Industrious midfielder who isn't too dissimilar to Skipp in style of play, possesses a good range of passing. Has represented England on one occasion at youth level. He impressed me when I saw him against Norwich a couple of weeks back.

Chay Cooper (CAM): Skilful attacking mid who we signed from Southend in the summer.

J'neil Bennett (LW): A familiar name amongst youth watchers, Bennett burst on to the u18 scene in November after impressing at the Cambridge showcase match. And has featured well over 15 times for Parker's side this season being involved in 8 goals. A really exciting and tricky winger who we signed from QPR, Bennett is Zaha-esque and is a real nightmare for defenders. He is an excellent prospect who deserves to be in the England u17's squad for the euros.

Troy Parrott (CF): Hailed as the most exciting player to come out of Ireland in the last 10 years, Troy Parrott hit the headlines when we signed him from Dublin side Belvedere in February 2017. A physical Kane-esque centre forward, Parrott is a star player in the Ireland u17 side and since turning 16 has been heavily involved in the Spurs u18 side which he has really impressed in. A debut for the u23's next season wouldn't surprise me.

Enoch Asante (CF): A fox in the box striker, Asante is good in the air and has looked good for the 16's this season. Made his u18 debut on the opening day of the season. Lively player.

Rafferty Pedder (CM/CAM): Small but highly intelligent midfielder who has drawn comparisons with Modric but has endured a difficult season. Missing the opening couple of months with a broken arm, he was on the bench for the Cambridge game but hasn't been seen since, presumably injured. Unsure as to whether he'll be given a scholarship.

A surprise release: Kane Patterson(RB): Brother of Phoenix, impressed me whenever I saw him play for Scotland. Was released earlier in the season.

Expect Freeman to be used as an overage keeper for the 18's alongside Oluwayemi and Kurylowicz. Hopefully Whiteman will go on loan meaning that De Bie and Austin compete for a place in the u23's. Agree that the dev squad is very big so would expect a couple of outgoings over the summer so as to even it out a bit.

Agree with everything you say. Question for you - I thought your Irish background might have led you to over egg Parrott's ability a few months ago, but from what little I've seen of him, especially the quantity and variety of goals he scored at the tournament a month ago, I think you've got him about right, he's a very impressive striker.

I'm not familiar with the Republic of Ireland strike force (both now and in the youth set up) but is there a decent chance he will get a call up to the full Irish squad in the next couple of years (he seems to have both the stature and technical ability, just not the experience to step up now), and likely before he gets close to a Spurs debut ?

I'd be sorry if Griffiths does leave, because he does seem to have a knack of scoring a lot of goals, but he seems to me to be quite raw, more a Lukaku than a Kane, which may be linked to him only becoming a striker 2 years ago, but he probably needs to improve his technical ability (and he has time to do so) before he could become a top striker, so a very decent prospect. But Parrott seems to have more to his game now, just lacking in experience and will naturally add muscle as he goes through his late teens, so an even better prospect.......but I'd still prefer to have 2 decent prospects rather than one, although maybe Rodel Richards would step out of Griffiths shadow if Griffiths left (he's been playing as more of a winger, but can play striker ) !

He has been excellent for the under 18's this season who he has skippered for the whole campaign. Terrrifc shot stopper and all round keeper who is good with his distribution and cool under presssure, one of our most exciting young keepers for sure!

I've been impressed with Whiteman, and Austin has really shot up in my estimation in the last year, and I'd guess they would be seen as equal. Do you have a view on whether De Bie is their equal or one is better than the others ?

Agree with all of this. Would be great shame to lose Griffiths at this stage, but it sounds like TP could be a better prospect al round. The club must have thought this through.

As for Rodel Richards. Can you imagine how apoplectic the goons would be if he progressed to first team

Would think they realised they were not too good at assessing youth team strikers after they released Kane for being too small. :kaneear:

If he impresses next season and maybe even gets the odd u23 game then Im sure he wouldn't be far away from being considered, as our striking options are very poor. Only him and Adam Idah stand out in that field, but I don't think they'd rush him in to the squad like they did with Dixon. Am going to watch the Ireland u17 v Belgium game next Saturday.
