2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA 14th June - 15th July

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just checked. Yes, England did win a penalty shoot out at a world cup!

One minor gripe. Most of the country is going crazy but I can't be the only one bored with the guttersnipes coming out of the woodwork to say they hate the England team/find football boring/say how much they hate the WC etc. Not all Welsh or Scots either. Personally I can't wait to find whatever dull hobby you find fascinating and go on and on about how 'boring' it is and how much everyone hates it. Which would actually be true in that case.

Edit: objectively, to the football fan, I'd say our team is actually pretty likeable nowadays. Which makes a change.

Hear, hear.

If England win the thing I expect riots on the streets of Glasgow, Dublin, Cardiff and probably Liverpool as well.

Come on England!

* Is that acceptable?!

I’m not disagreeing it could help the Spurs players. I’m disagreeing with your assertion that should take precedence over national allegiance at a national tournament.

I’m also not really sure it should matter to England if Scottish or Welsh people are supporting them. I fail to see the need.

And the greater good is a valuable goal to chase, but in the same way that it helps Spurs to have a high UEFA coefficient, I’d not expect Spurs fans to support other English teams in Europe. I certainly don’t and I don’t think it makes me a worse football fan or any less English to not do so.

I don't expect them to support us but really not sure we deserve such hatred. It's not as if we have a record similar to Germany, our only trophy was won before man walked on the moon and The Beatles split up!

Also, I was quite happy to see Wales do well two years ago. I'm not a bitter cunt unlike the Celts!

The street/area was going crazy last night. Horns honking, people running about, cheering, chanting. All peaceful. It's a shame if you can't be part of that but why publicly knock it? Anyway as I was saying to mates last night if you can't be part of that genuine euphoria after the winning penalty went in, I pity you!
:kanegoal:

It's true, but I don't really get the hate from Portugal, Sweden, American fans etc
is there hate though ? From what i saw most people were just disappointed by the game itself and the blatant dives etc, felt a bit like a classico but without the superior technical ability of those games but i think most people just want England to do well, esp compared to the Germans and the French for instance

maybe throwing the game against us has annoyed a few people as it was a bit the coward/smart way, but as an English fan why would you care? you are through and have a real chance at glory, the rest is not really relevant

Nutter-Naylor Nutter-Naylor test :)

funny game football, if you are emotionally involved with a team in a knockout phase the win is all that matters and in euphoria people will even celebrate the manner of a victory etc. Seeing that last pen go in must ve been a moment of enormous joy and relief and those are the moments that stick.

but if you are neutral or semi neutral you watch a game with a whole different perspective and then you saw two battling teams that offered so little in terms of quality. But as has been said, in a wc knock out phase that doesnt matter ... its going to the next round that counts and in England's case also breaking that hoodoo.

Of course i respect & understand other fans supporting their own nation, that is how it should be. But when they come on an English team's forum and actively slag off my country & its national team i (& many others) have no time for them & they shouldn't be surprised when they encounter hositility. That said, they are not as bad as those that were born in England but because their great grandad once had a bowl of pasta they think they are Italian.

I agree that for the neutral it was a poor game. However, if we win our next three matches in the same manner i will give considerably less than no fucks.

You should greet that with hostility yes. But I’d suggest that just because we support an English team, it doesn’t make this an England forum. You can support Spurs and not England and vice versa. But as you say, don’t expect a warm welcome.

I found it strange that in the emotion of last night there were posts at the final whistle about Jockland. Possibly a point of the evening to celebrate than to give it out to others? When Spurs win a big match, Woolwich are the last thing on my mind. I’m too happy!

It does interest me though that in the midst I all this fervent England support that there’s a lot of “fuck Walker” and “fuck Henderson” going on. I think they’ve both been decent. Does show that club allegiance still above country I suppose.

There were a load of people logging in after Colombia scored to have a little laugh. You can see the reaction that gets when people do that when Spurs lose, don't give us this why do you care stuff. It was the biggest game England have had in 10 years and some people thought it was funny we were losing. Ridiculous trolling

Even i was praising Horrenderson this morning! Had a good tournament.

Try reading the comments BTL on the Guardian. Fucking hell the salt is off the charts!

Come on England. Harry Kane to lift the World Cup? What a sight that would be.

Then the next season the PL or CL trophy.

Beautiful!

Scots are having an awful summer, England doing well and no Andy Murray at Wimbledon!

PS Their cricket team is pretty good though, perhaps they should forget football.

;-)
