Things like this don't worry me, IF, we improve ourselves in the process. I think Toby has limitations which Poch feels doesn't help the team and that's why Dav and Jan are first preferred option. If he goes to Man Ure, Poch will have plans how to get after him.

I was thinking more of Whiteman since he was on the preseason tour. As little as we use our 3rd keeper wouldn't it make sense to use someone who will count towards homegrown quota?

Poch doesn't negotiate the deals, he scouts the players. You're the Ty of Tottenham fans, bit ironic. I don't quite understand you, you lambast people for worrying about the direction of the club and these people do so because they care. They're not real fans in your opinion, but evidently you don't really follow the club. You don't know anything about the transfer targets, don't know anything about the current injury situation, don't know anything about the academy and honestly a bit clueless to the team in general. I said it before, Toby is a fantastic defender in a flat back line that defends deeper with play in front of them. Once he gets pulled out of position he's not the same player. Dav allows us to play a higher back line that Poch favours. So the argument is really a matter of principal over a matter of practicality.
Big team simply do whats best for them and don't care about other teams. If we're holding onto Toby to simply show we're "big time" then we are a lot smaller than we want to think we are.

It really does seem to be a waste of a CL berth to take 3 keepers (all non HG)
We definitely need to name 3 keepers in case of absolute disaster, but not all non HG, surely?
Unless of course all our youth keepers are utter turd.
I accept it’s a risk to throw a young English keeper in at the deep end, but it’s a calculated risk and frees up a space elsewhere, in a position where it is likely to be more beneficial.
Poch may be happy to see Toby go but I doubt he has any say on whom we sell him to and for how much. That is all down to Levy.
Also, most of the people on here aren't plastics ffs. We dont win enough to attract that type of 'fan' anyway!

Toby is a fantastic CB. He makes our squad significantly better. Our defense was a bit of a mess before he got here. And he looked back to near top form at the World Cup.
But we are not able (or willing) to meet his contract demands, so it probably makes sense to move him on. I wouldn't want a mopey cunt (even if he is one of the best CBs in the league) in the locker room. And it would be best to get rid of him now as we will only get 25 mil next year.
If we could, shipping him outside of the Premier League is probably worth a 10 mill discount, because fuck United. But if he isn't willing to accept a move elsewhere or if United is the only club willing to pay a decent sum for Toby, we should sell to United.
The key to all of this is having our incomings lined up by the time we sell.
TLDR: Toby is a fantastic player. But get him the fuck out of here, even to United if we have to.
