Match Unstoppable force (Watford) vs Immovable object (Spurs) Sunday 2 September

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I hate this talk of winning the league. Were a great team i give you that. but i refuse to believe we will win a league or a champs league. Just being real. The amount of money some of these clubs have got is just too much to compete with nowdays. Teams like city have got competition for places in their team x3. Unless were bought out by a trillionaire oil baron, we wont win leagues or euro cups. I love this club and on any day we can beat the best but like i said, im just a realist. Weve had a poor game, played ok but not good enough. we go onto the next one against the scousers and we have to be ready for that one. COYS

Absolutely, but not gonna happen. No one is battering Liverpool this year.
Beatr them yes batter them, not happening.
Just you wait.

> Man City in 2016
> Liverpool last year

Not the end of the world, or our season.
Just a terrible day at the office, we looked abject, starting with Poch, but compounding that we didn't have much skill today. That can get you out of trouble sometimes but we had no real spark.

Often we go on a nice run following a defeat so looking forward to that, I think they will be looking to improve a lot against the dippers.

Watford made it very difficult all game long, I would hope they continue that against our rivals but won't bank on it.

Who says we can't? Do teams who win the league never lose to mid table opposition?
I know that all the idiots on TV are saying that Tottenham can't win the league if they lose games like this.
They say that whenever a big team loses early in the season.
Stop buying into their bullshit. These things happen.
But it seems to happen to us at the wrong times. Our record against the top 6 has been pretty good in recent seasons. Its these games that are holding us back the most.

Kane buries that and it’s a different story, but I felt like Poch regressed over the course of this game. This felt like Poch from 2 years ago. Very disappointing. Way to many half chances and not nearly sharp enough as a team, though.

What really boils my piss is that looking at how the two games played out today..m ours and ArseAnals results could so easily have been reversed...
(Except we NEVER looked like scoring 3 today, so scrub that!)

I mean that Cardiff AND Watford both looked up for it... its just we let ourselves get overawed by some faux Hertfordshire Tifosi Ultras!!!!
I'm just dissapointed we fell for it!

It's easy to say in hindsight and all that. But with half an hour to go I would have started to bring on Dier, then Winks, and finally Sissoko, to freshen up and crowd out that midfield. Leaving Dembele exposed out there for so long was a big mistake. And again easy to say this now, but Rose should have kept his place in the team.

A lot of people digging out Alli when Eriksen was the worst player on the entire pitch, and has been so far our worst player this season.

Anyway, onwards and upwards, Watford wanted it more, so they got it

Agree on Eriksen. Not even put in a 6/10 performance so far this season.

When we win it is easy to laud/understand the transfer policy of the summer.

After today it is nearly impossible because when we needed options they weren't there.

Not even sure what to think goung forward, so lamentable was our response to their first goal.

We lost because of poor defending at corners, not through being torn open in open play. Yes, after Watford scored their first we got sloppy - or more accurately, rather panicky as they tossed balls into the area from all angles. IF we had kept the corners out of the goal I have no doubt that as Watford pushed for an equaliser we could well of snatched a second. Up until their first goal they had presented no real problems. Not at our best today, but good enough to beat Watford if game management had been better.

Was down to the lack of fight and being physically equal to them from the 60th min.. their Goals were coming. Poch should have subbed dembele long before they scored. Once his legs went we had no defensive midfielder at all. And they were just at our back 3 constantly. May have been two set pieces that gave them the goals but they should have been no where near our box earning free kicks like that

Ah, trainers loss all the way...

What do you do when you are hit by a buss around 65 minute mark and then fail do control the game???
Well what Poch did was - until 85 minute do nothing exept for bringing in a tall striker instead of defender... WHY?
Did that help us to gain control? Does this stop Watford?
FFS I would have expected that tossing in targetman blindly in is from 90'ies... THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES TO THAT!!! FFS having Winks on right after they gained confidence would have been so much better... or Dier if you wish (and Winksy bit later) but no...

Deserved loss, and it is dissapointing.

But of course not the end of the world. Getting 3 wins out of 4 games in start of season is better than usual start under Poch.
14/5 we got 7
15/16 3
16/17 8
17/17 7

But I would very much like us to make right conclusions from this one today. Liverpool will come from full points and full of confidence!

In my view, the expectancy now that we should be challenging for the league title and as a result every time we drop points it's a disaster does add a lot more pressure and take a lot of the fun out of watching. I didn't seriously think we'd be winning the league this season, I was of the view Man City would win it at a canter. Four games in and the league looks a lot more open than expected and we do have a chance, but we shouldn't kid ourselves that we're favourites and that it wouldn't be a huge surprise to end up winning the league. Just finishing top 4 four seasons in a row would be an amazing achievement.

That said, I'd be gutted about losing in the manner we did today even in the darkest days of the 1990s.
