Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought I had added them - thanks.

It’s the same narrative used previously with Redknapp. He supposedly took a terrible spurs team to the CL whilst most Ignored the fact that the likes of Bale, King, Modric, Lennon, Ekotto, Corluka, Huddlestone we already at the club before he arrived.

Yet no one managed to get us into the CL with those players.
Just like after Redknapp left, it took some five years to be back.

Always laugh at how “easy it is” with the squads they “inherited”.
Didn’t see AVB get us anywhere and that was with Bale

Think the only time I've felt like Poch disrespected the cup competitions was the Europa League in 15/16. The Dortmund line ups and performances were just not Spurs of that season.

It’s not the line up that are the issue - it’s the rhetoric about these being distractions and that we have higher priorities. He did this at Southampton as well - he openly stated that the Europa doesn’t attract or interest him and virtually threw the cup game against Sunderland despite Southampton being mid table. They are clearly not priorities and that had been reflected in the peformances. When the 2nd best team in England loses to a mid table Belgium side over 2 legs then its plain to see

Can't believe this shameless WUM is still at large

Who said it was easy? The point is that both managers walked into a club that had a large array of talent with the squad. As for AVB well we missed out of CL by 1 point - same with Jol so let’s not pretend that CL qualification was never on the cards prior to either Rekdnapp or Poh taking over.

It's easy to look back and bring up Eriksen, Lamela, Rose, Walker, Lloris, Dembele and Kane as players who were already here when Poch arrived - but it's also silly to think Pochettino didn't improve at least half of that bunch.

Just go and look at the opening few pages of the Kane thread to see what everyone thought about him. Rose was getting horrible abuse on Twitter when Pochettino gave him a brand new deal in his first season here which made him delete it. Lamela was being written off as a flop already despite being injured in his first season and hardly getting a look in under AVB and Sherwood and Dembele and Walker were still ridiculously inconsistent, despite having the ability and Vertonghen was getting abused for "not caring" because of the way he was standing in a dugout. It wasn't even until Euro 2016 that people besides Spurs started to actually rate Kyle Walker as a player.

He still had a squad involving Naughton, Chiriches, Adebayor, Paulinho, Soldado, Holtby, Capoue, Townsend, Dawson, Sigurdsson, Carroll, Sandro, Lennon, Fryers. Which was HALF of our squad when he arrived.

That's a whole lot of shit.

Over half the squad last season was signed by Pochettino. Over half the squad the year before was signed by Pochettino (some would say 16/17 was our best season under him).

Why some of you make Enic and levy the be all of tottenham? They don’t care about the supporters, they don’t care about you. They care about making money and making the most profit possible about Tottenham. We will be sold in two years max. They did a good job taking as to this level but they won’t take us further. It’s not on the plan to spend more and win things.

And you think this is different from any other top flight club in football how?
Name me one other top flight club that has gone a whole summer transfer window without investing a single fucking dime on strengthening the squad....

That's different.

It was never on the cards. Unless constantly missing out is the same as qualifying.
Might as well award Poch the same leniency for getting to semi finals then.....

You are on to something. Our tactics are in large the same as when Poch cam in, and is a style of play that relies on young players that just can't stop running. With an older squad it does need tweaking to suit the squad.

A more pragmatic, smarter style of play would be ideal.

Not saying we should copy Valverde but just using him as an example

Busquets and Rakitic vs Dier and Dembele. No comparison really.

Also, they may line up a bit flat on defense, but when they have the ball, they still revert to Busquets splitting the CBs and getting width from their athletic FBs.

Our diamond could work, we just don’t have the midfield to implement it. Ideal sides of the diamond would be a Milner type that is simple and tireless. Also have to be comfortable with the ball at their feet as you are on an island with the sideline being another defender. They have to be able to cover the wide areas and tuck in when the ball is opposite. Lots of running in that position. Something Dier and the Winks are not the best for for. Lamela and Lucas are better options honestly. Like to put a tackle in

There was talk on SC over the summer that we had a new formation we were going to explore. Utilizing Lucas. It’s clear we did have plans for a new formation with this diamond.

Everyone over there was hoping for a 433. I believe in Poch, I just wish he was a bit more of a risk taker with his style. That being said he has done this club wonders and I am not overly worried about our recent form. We have had runs like this before and then we rattle off 9 straight. If we did that starting next week, everything is forgotten. That is until thaw last game of the season and we are points off 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Our slow starts to the season have bitten us before.

In the immortal words of Jack Sparrow, " you need to get a girl, mate"

:)

As do I. :-(

Maybe get a PS4 or Xbox or gaming rig in the meantime.

:allitongue:

I'm starting to wonder if there's any reason to care so much but I'll be watching the game on Saturday and will be a nervous wreck...until Harry bags a hat-trick and all is right with the world!
I have one.
She loves Chelsea. I'm in ruins already.

Not the point tho.

He said that the owners don't care about the fans. And I asked how that differs from any other board room in a top flight club. At the end of the day all board rooms focus more on the numbers than the fans. That the fans are paying for tickets are a non matter because it is only a part of a clubs total earnings.

If ticket prices and match day was the only way a club made money they would "care" a whole lot more

I know what you mean. The Juve game at home knocked me for six. I felt like shit for ages. I thought I’d gotten over that stuff. It’s madness, but it’s in the blood. I wish it wasn’t, but I’d like to function as a normal human every now and then. I wish I’d never heard of Tottenham fucking Hotspur.
I have days like that....it only hurts so much because it means so much. I was crushed after Tuesday's game and it doesn't help when well-meaning people tell me that's it's only a game!!
