A bit OTT on Sissoko who didn't play well but probably wasn't the worst performer - that was probably Trippier, but generally agree.

First half was ok - except we did not take chances (other than Kane;s uber goal) and Spurs were generally in control. No exceptional players but if anyone I'd guess Kane and Winks.

But 2nd half the wheels fell off probably due to tiredness and lack of rotation over the previous few days (although with limited fit players available, rotation would have to include a couple of youngsters giving an established player 15 minutes or so off against Everton and Bournemouth.

No players get much credit for the 2nd half performances though. Sadly

The difference is playing FB is a lot more difficult than than what Sissoko's doing. In our system, you have to be a defender, a midfielder and an attacker, you have to create and stop others creating but do it the length of the pitch. And at least Trippier does something incisive or inspirational occasionally and he has a brain.

I'm not sure I even said he was the worst player yesterday, Son and Alli probably contributed even less, it's just a more over arching issue. Son, Alli and Eriksen will all contribute an abundance of quality, inspiration, genius even, regularly enough to warrant a meh one now and then. Others may be blown away by Sissoko's ability to run around and create an illusion of usefulness. I'm not. At this level we need a shit load more.

I'd suggest that Son, Dele and Eriksen (plus of course Kane) are 4 players who any club side would be happy to have in their squad, all pretty close to the description of 'world class'.

After that I'd suggest Lloris has slipped a bit off being one of the best goalkeepers in the worlf maybe 2 seasons ago, Rose again slipped from being one of the best LB's, Vertonghen and Alderweireld were probably one of the best CB combos around etc. Dembele and Wanyama were a fantastic CM combo in 15/16, sadly injury has limited both since. Trppier had a fantastic WC and is probably still fine as a WB with CB's behind him, but not with 2 CB's unless one of the CM's covers his excursions up front

And the list goes on. Sissoko has been a revelation this season, but I think if we had the 15/16 Dembele back, Sissoko wouldn't see much game time except as cover.

However as 'Arry would say 'we are down to the bare bones' so Sissoko is definitely needed

Why is he needed? You really think Skipp, Winks, TOB couldn't fulfil the very basic remit Sissoko fills, or even exceed it most weeks? Trundle around doing nothing very complex? Because I do.

Nothing Sissoko has done has been a revelation to me. He's always been an incredibly limited footballer with substandard technique.

Why is he needed now - Skipp, and TOB certainly, and possibly Winks as well just don't have the experience we need, irrespective of technical ability.

I'm guessing we will sign a CM either in January or Summer but with Wanyama and Dembele almost certainly leaving in January/summer, it becomes a numbers game with us needing probably 3 experienced CM's plus Skipp, TOB and any other youngsters as a minimum (depending upon how much game time Skipp, TOB etc get this season).

So if we sign one experienced CM and we have Dier and Winks (so that's 3 CM's) , Sissoko may be surplus to requirements but I could see Poch keeping him as a 'utility' player for another season whilst the youngsters gain experience. If we sign 2 CM's on January/summer its much more likely Sissoko will go as at age 31 its about our last chance to get a significant fee for a useful but limited squad player.

Experience is only a virtue if it comes attached to some intelligence or talent.
