I love the pressure (and subsequent emotion of any victory that follows)...... Wins against Watford & Newcastle wouldn't feel so epic otherwise...

I also strongly suspect the drama of being an underdog etc. is far more 'fun' and rewarding than a title challenge being a mere run of the mill expectation so i dont take this period for granted in that sense... All the more reason to enjoy it how one can imo.... (Even if we went on to dominate the EPL, this period would remain a somewhat unique, cherry breaking experience that should be savoured in the here and now - Not just lauded in retrospect).

When it comes to the 90mins, trust me, i'm as tense as the next man. Just that once the dust settles i just accept i have very little valuable influence over proceedings other than to get behind the team or walk away....

.....Yer slag!:ledley:
Yeah it’s often made me think what it must be like to be a Real fan. Several generations of galacticos now, routine wins in league and copa del rey and an unassailable lead in CL titles. Only real competition is who has biggest market value. Not sure I’d bother tbh

"By far the greatest team the world has ever seen"

It's fun to get carried away.... Just ask those that sing this whilst occupying the lower echelons of the football league.

It's a been a staple mentality of football support for the 40-odd years i've known the game (and suspect for even longer as the further you go back; less and less did one 'choose' their team... Support would have been far more local and you'd just get on with supporting the team you inherited... trying to be the proverbial 12th man).... Over-rating ones team and a gallows humour are what got a collective fanbase through tougher moments. That is until the last x-amount of years where now it's deemed righteous to smear misery everywhere, claiming it to be in the name of "objectivity".

Football is ultimately futile, so why suck all the fun and escapism out of it?

Then why don't you take the advice of your own words and let people support how they chose too. My only advice is, it's a lot more fun being positive about an outcome by opening up to the possibility of believing it is possible. What actually is the point of being cautious or realistic? Caution and realism is for teams desperate to get to 40pts this season. Whatever happens, happens. Whether we finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. I'm enjoying watching Tottenham contest for the title for the 3rd year in a row.
I don't know what the fuck you people are talking about. Show me where I told anyone how they should support or enjoy their club? And why do you think that I don't believe in the possibility? Misery? Objectivity? Again what the FUCK are you talking about? You are reading a whole hell of a lot into what I said and making all kinds of assumption about me.

I just said, don't go around accusing people who don't think we are gonna win the title of not enjoying the team or being negative. Because that's utterly stupid and just shitty thing to do. To me someone who just enjoys watching their team is someone who doesn't care about titles and trophies, they just enjoy watching their team regardless of results and honours. But the original post that I responded to was trying to equate the two things as if they must go hand in hand, which sounds absurd to me.

Sorry fella if I got the wrong end of the stick, my original post was responding to a post disliking our plays for saying we are in a title race, you responded to that post not the original poster, so may have got the two of you mixed up.

I stand by my posts though, all be it not directed at you personally. I think fans will enjoy admitting that we are in a title race rather than refusing too because of fear of it not happening.

Consider the dynamic of this thread or the fan-base in general currently.... That's "what the fuck" I'm talking about.

My comments simply transcend what I think of your previous comments.... Only you can say how much of them genuinely apply to you. I was inspired to post by your seemingly implying that getting carried away is a bad/silly thing. (If that's a misinterpretation then, my bad... No issue conceding to that.)

Being partisan seems like an increasingly mock-able principal for some.

"To me someone who just enjoys watching their team is someone who doesn't care about titles and trophies, they just enjoy watching their team regardless of results and honours"

If that's you you're describing, then touche... I'm far closer to that end of the scale than being some miserable entitled doom-merchant myself. Curious of you to be frequenting a thread about a title challenge tho if that's genuinely the case tho'.

It's only natural for people to want to protect themselves from the hurt that can result from getting their hopes up, and there is good reason to do that given the history. But I will also say that feeling a certain way and saying it are different things, I'm sure far more people entertain the idea privately but don't want to say it out loud for all kinds of reasons, and fear may or may not be one of them.

I don't know who you are fighting here. I imagine anyone, excepting the trolls, who spends time on this forum is a partisan fan and on some level believes in the possibility that their club can win things. I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know what the consensus is, but I don't see the logic in saying a bunch of things targeted at someone and then be like ''only you know if any of that applies to you''. If you just want to shout things aloud, go ahead, but you were quoting me and I told you are making all kinds of false assumptions about me.
Also 'frequenting' a thread isn't some heavy commitment, I have a quick look at most of the big threads on the forum and rarely post compared to many. But if I'm trespassing here, I'll just stick to the porn thread from now.

Perspective helps.

Appears you entirely missed this part where I explain WHY I responded to you:

Any further questions on that front... Fire away...?

Now you're just being precious. Frequent where you like... That really wasn't my point.

To be happy “just enjoying watching the team” would, imho require involvement of some kind I.e. watching at the stadium, watching on TV with friends/family. If someone just enjoys watching generally then surely they are a sports fan rather than a supporter!

Personally never had a proverbial Spurs 'buddy'...

....Until I get to the lane. :)
