Match Tottenham Hotspur v Ajax, Champions League Semi-Final, Tue 30th April

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I wish I was milling around in Tottenham with a ticket......
Join the fucking queue. Was tempted to just do it anyway minus the ticket, but the logistics were just too shit. Anything involving the missus and a lift has consequences I didn’t fancy. Least of which was an early dart back to Woodford tube station to pick up my car before it got clamped at 8:31am.
But am already regretting not doing it.
It’s been one of those days.
:avbshit:

Just been contemplating whether we can play a back 4 tonight. If we play with this formation...

-------------------Lloris------------------
Tripps-----Toby----------Jan------Rose
---Sissoko-------Dier-----Wanyama---
--------Dele--------------Eriksen--------
-------------Moura/Llorente-------------

We could effectively have 2 formations for the price of one. 4321 with the ball, then we could switch to 5 at the back when out of possession. Dier dropping into a back 3 with Sissoko and Wanyama still providing the cover in front.

Defensively that could be a very good shape and tough to break down.

I'm hoping to see Dele and Eriksen in the forward positions tonight as this will be our main goal threat. If that is the case we'll need Sissoko to be the ball carrier tonight as Dier and Wanyama don't have the ability to unlock defenses with their passing.

:smesh:COYS!!

Oh God no..... I do realise we're sort of hand-strapped when it comes to players available but a Sissoko/Dier/Wanyama midfield runs the risk of being overly pedestrian. If that does come to pass however, then there is a lot of responsibility on the full backs and Moura to provide attacking impetus.

Spurs and Ajax are both my favorite teams (I’m part Dutch for those who don’t know).

My head says Spurs and my heart says Ajax. But I want Spurs to win and go to the final.

We deserve and need that UCL cup more than Ajax do. Ajax can and will never become another elite club whereas we have the clear potential.

So COYS

I expect us to concede very early.... within the first 10 minutes. Seems to happen to us in these big games. Sorry not sorry. I do think we will recover. Not sure about the final result but almost certainly a BTTS.
What, you mean like City at home? They couldn’t score against us in 90. I am hoping for a clean sheet so badly. Even a 0-0 would be grand for us. Would love us to be in a position to go toe to toe with this lot next week with them needing to score and having to keep a clean sheet.

Apart from the home games in our two previous Champions League knockout games.

Two of which were against difficult teams. With one team being much better than Ajax.

Just arrived and already seen my first half & half scarf. :lamelaaghh:

Edit. At least he was Dutch. There’s loads more inside. What’s wrong with these people?:dembelefingers:

Yep. Eventually the 1-0 at home was what got us through the madness at City. They had to come at us and we buried our chances.

I was mainly being hopeful of getting Dele and Eriksen in their natural positions. I think it is still a strong possibility we could see Dele in the deeper midfield role again. I just think he's wasted there. We need him getting in the box tonight as obviously, we lack attacking options.

I agree that midfield I picked doesn't have bundles of creativity but could hopefully keep us strong in that battle and hopefully provide Eriksen, Dele and Lucas so they can do the business! It's just as we are so lacking in options. I don't confess to having any clue how we'll line up or set up formation wise.

Anything but the diamond.

I'm sure Poch has done his homework and we'll be happy with the side.
