Rondon. Will be cheap if WBA don't come up. Liverpool couldn't handle him in their penultimate game. TBF no PL CBs can because of his combination of strength and athleticism. Sure, you can say he should score more but he has played for Pulis and Rafa. I like him, he wouldn't rock the team collective boat and would work hard as he always has.

Anyone that would chose Dzeko (I wanted when he left MC) at 33 and having scored 9 goals in that fraud of a league Serie A over the 29 year old Rondon who got 10 playing for the Spanish Pulis (as a previously respected poster on here calls him), works harder, is significantly more mobile, faster, stronger, and athletic needs their heads examined. And this tirade is specifically aimed at said aforementioned 'previously respected poster' and not you PLMT.

If I was a mine owner and I’d worn out my pit pony, da do Rondondon would definitely be right up there on my shopping list from the Pullis surplus store.

I’ve always liked Dzeko though, liked him in Germany (who didn’t) said we should have taken him from ManC when he became surplus there, he’s a classy finisher for a big un, with a good brain, and at 33 would probably be content to be a bench/squad option.

Seriously, didn’t say would prefer Dzeko to Rondon, just responded to someone suggesting Dzeko as the Llorente upgrade (which I think he would be - if that’s what we are looking for).

I would rather we just spent the money on Fekir or Pepe and then we’d have great AM’s who could also play CF/false 9. And I still think Alli could do okay as a 9/False 9.

He's actually very good on the ball for a CB, maybe it's more tactical.

It's an aesthetic issue with Umtiti.

I actually agree with you that he's very good on the ball but he suffers from the same thing as Rudiger and Sakho in that he doesnt entirely look comfortable on the ball but he's actually very good on it.

I don't think Lenglet is better than him either. Valverde just does weird things.

No, because he's not as good as Kane and never will be.

Poch may try and play him and Kane together like he tried when we signed Janssen but it won't work or someone more important will miss out.

The only player we should ever sign for back up to Kane is an experienced player who's happy enough to get paid a wage and occasionally get a shot in cup games etc. or someone who can also play in another position (On the wing like Son)

Agree. Or a young up and comer with buckets of potential. But generally the older fellas are more likely to accept a squad remit.

He left seeking regular football tho.... Same old issue; might as well stay at City and sit on a better paying bench than come here and get the same splinters for less. (I suspect he'd wouldn't have fit the wage structure of the time either).

AM/False9 model prefered here too although (as we saw vs Ajax) some teams just can't handle direct play to a big man so it's a nice string to have on our bow.

Bale was a like a luxury car, luxury cars have higher depreciation, no reason to pay over 35m for him now and he will have to take 75% wage cut.

If I were him, I'd stay in Madrid as the world's most expensive chav

Zidane, as RM manager has as good as said he doesn't like Bale so won't be at RM next season, but Bale and his agent Jonathan Barnett have RM over a barrel as over the remaining 3 years of Bale's contract RM need to pay Bale £100m.

So RM want Bale to go but no other club I can think of will take on Bale with £34m pa wages.

So RM either do a deal to sell Bale but RM still massively subsidise his wages or RM loan him out for 2 or 3 years, again RM massively subsidising his wages.

As I've said before, as Bale has not picked up Spanish language in 6 years, I doubt he wants to go to another country with a non-English language like French, German etc. Which leaves a PL club.

Personally think the idea of Spurs paying a big signing on fee plus big wages (even subsidised by RM and Bale taking a haircut) might well cause Spurs a wage structure problem (ie other players use Bale wages as a benchmark in wage negotiations) , so if he came back to Spurs IMO a 2 year loan from RM with RM subsiding Bale's wages down to an amount equal to Kane's wage is probably the best offer Levy will make.

And after ManU have been stung by Sanchez and Pogba wages, Woolwich with Ozil etc, Spurs offer might be the best on the table for RM - even if it costs them £50m wage subsidies.

And that pre-supposes Bale passes the Poch test - but with Bale able to play as an AM and as a striker if Kane is not available and Llorente leaves, its not beyond the reams of possibility. But I think RM will want to explore all the possibilities to avoid paying out loads of cash, so might well be a late(ish) deal...if it happens

I change my mind every day on the Bale thing. I don't like how he left us but I'm a proud Welsh man and love what he is capable of on the football pitch.

I do want to try to dispel this myth though that he's not a team play or he's selfish.

I don't blame him being like that while RM continue to treat him how they are but that's not a fair assessment of his character.

He is a superstar in Wales. Consider his standing in that squad. His closest peer is Ramsey. Despite this there are never any stories leaking from the squad about his bad attitude. Instead it's all about how he's one of the boys and how good the team spirit is.

I think he'll be an asset and buy in to Poch's system...I just dunno if it worth the money. Sometime I think that he's a special player capable of doing special things so get him, the next I think I'd rather spend the money somewhere else.

I don’t want to hear about links with back up strikers until the end of the window when we have 2 more CM’s, a fullback or two and maybe another wide forward signed. Then if we still have time and money then I wouldn’t mind another back up striker.

For now I’m happy for son/Moura to play the striker role in Kane’s Absence.

It’s better than all the Bale talk...

Who: Hercules
When: Today
Where: SC

Regarding Bale, though there is a thread. The only realistic chance of us sniffing, is he is offered as a ‘free’ and then it is possible. More too it than that but not for now.

Yeah...fuck off Hercules.
