Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Totenham have it. But not to the level of more of 500 days without signings when they are needed. Do we have ground to agree here?

It’s too out there wanting ndombele or some midfielder for 50-65M? It’s not Neymar or something illusionary

Pressumably if we tried to get De Jong last summer then I'd hope that same money can be used to boulster whatever kitty we have this summer. As much as I know about the player I'd be happy if we bagged N'Dombele. If the club think we can afford it, I don't really care how much he costs. I just accept there'll be a limit and if we blow 150-200m this summer we won't likely be doing it every window, so we need to make any 'one-off splurge' count.

This whole idea that some are ANTI-spending/signings is bollocks and needs to but put to death.

This is a serious discussion, not a place to joke around. I find it interesting how if you criticise poch or kane & other players then it's not too bigger deal. But if you dare criticise levy then people get very angry, touche & offended. They are naturally more supportive of the chairman than the manager & players.

Tip:

a) Actually being funny.
b) Not being snide and disingenuous

....both help immensely.

Obviously. Every fan That’s not an idiot agrees with this.

We need to spend a lot this season because we fucked around last summer. Had spent 70M last season maybe 50-70M this year would do the trick. Every squad don’t matter how good needs a couple new players every year. United with Ferguson did this all the time.

Ok. Personally I think you are sitting on the fence. Not really asking you about trust. But about what you want us to do this summer. You have basically said you will be ok with either spending nothing or big. Which is fine but not a committed opinion. More of a " I trust the club to do what's right". Like a politician, non committal. Anyway, I think we have gone as far as we can with this little conversation.
I have said a few times I think we need to ship out Wanyama and buy at least two cm and a right back. If Eriksen and toby leave then suitable replacements (promote sanchez). Something left field for Lorente as Son is Kanes first replacement, hope the scouting team do their job.

If the club chose a different path I won't think they are going the wrong way will see how it goes before I judge.

No sitting on the fence I think they know more than me. From what you are saying you seem to think the opposite.

Someone literally said us spending 65 mil on ndombele could see us going down a slippery slope and ending up like Leeds, and that we should spend 50 tops....
It's weird. Every summer posts saying don't do a leeds, don't spend big, it's not fantasy football/Fifa, I thought everton/Fulham won the transfer window , spending big is a waste of time/massive risk, go & support man city! & Then someone will come along & say no one said any of that? Everyone has said they will be happy if we spend & are very supportive if the club wishes to spend lots. They have been nothing but sweethearts to posters who want us to spend. I've never heard a bad word said against John!

More clearer now. You want to buy a few players. Me too. Let's hope we do!

How do you work out what a player is worth? You pricing by a certain amount per kilo?

A player is worth what he brings to the team. What he helps us to achieve. Until then, he’s “worth” fuck all.

Very simply, De Jong was £65m and I think he's better than Ndombele, hence why Ndombele is in my mind someone who should cost less than De Jong.

What if we bring Ndombele in and he flops? Will he be seen as a brain dead move? Every player has a valuation and that valuation is agreed way before he pulls on a team squad colours, hence having to analyse someone's worth before they join your club. How do you think any team works out a players worth? Sorry mate but I don't really see the point you're trying to make in your message to me. Everyone has a market value and for me both Ndombele and Lo Celso for the fees their clubs are after are way over even a generous market price based on what they've achieved so far and their ability to add quality to us from the off. That may change but I don't think either are £70m players and I'd be surprised if Levy doesn't think the same.

Edit, this website seems like a decent one to use when valuing a player for anyone interested in this kind of thing. It has Ndombele valued in the €50m-€70m ball park which roughly equates to £45m-£62m when converted.

TBH, I think it would be much easier if a select few just TOLD me what I think, because it seems me posting my OWN thoughts on this subject doesn't seem to register.

Let me recap...

- Levy is flawless.
- I don't want any signings.
- I don't want a penny spent.
- I don't want the club to succeed.
- I am the bestest fan in the world evarrr.

scott scott ....

Am I missing anything?

Top 4 is par

( reality is this is still over achieving - if we get it this will be the last year as I am confident our revenues will be enough that we need to be winning something otherwise it will be seen as failure)
I'd be happy with top 4 & I think levy would be too. But little signs indicate poch wouldn't. But hopefully he is happy with top 4.

Top four finish and the quarter finals of the CL, anything more would be a (massive) bonus.
Agreed. Stabilising our position in the top 4 & as a solid CL team. As above, only issue is if that's enough for poch & key players.
