Why, he’d cost an arm and a leg, is nowhere near Winks ability let alone the guy we are after in Ndombele and the money we would be using to bring in essentially a squad player could be better used upgrading other areas.

Rice played all year as a DCM - he plays for England as a DCM. He is not a defender.
He plays number 6 for West Ham and also in his England debut which is where Winks has been playing for us. You want to convert him fully to a CB and have him replace Toby.
At number 6 he is not technically good enough for the way we play, he is basically a more mobile Dier. Winks is a far superior footballer.
Kid’s a grafter, and a very good footballer, and I don’t think he’s got an ego problem.
There’s a lot of bollocks written about his mum, but that’s a very reasonable deal. He’s an upgrade on Matuidi and has cost them 10m and 135k pw €.
