Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was citing the talk I had with my mate today. That was a continuation of last week and what I posted in here before the major sites reported. But I’m not a douchebag about it
Not calling you a douche. But the scum of the SC
Really? Because the quotes that I provided are over a month old. 18th of May to be exact. Aulas likes to talk publicly about exactly what he's thinking; he did the same way back with Lloris. Inside knowledge is completely unnecessary with Aulas. He likes to wheel and deal, and where Levy likes to do so privately, Aulas fucking loves to do his business in a public theatre.

Congratulations, your friend reads the French press. Whoopadeedoo.

And this I totally agree with and it damns the scouting. And it was why I called Airfixx Airfixx on what I thought was a defense of the strategy. Turns out he's in agreement. I would also add Sanchez into this list. I wonder what they saw to plunk down 42M (26+addons) for him. I understand his merits but for a mgr that makes folks like Lloris play out of the back what did he see in Sanchez's ballwork to justify spending? It's like they went to Ajax shopping and realized the item they wanted wasn't included in the big sale but just had to leave with something.

Even with all the 'insiders'/ITK over at SC no one ever was able to explain the scouting setup. It doesn't seem great and you would figure that ours would have to be better than the others in order to compete.

I'll allow a little bit of latitude with Sanchez because it isn't easy to find CB's who are great defensively and great footballers too. Too far one way you have Chiriches and Bunjevkivic (and maybe even Foyth ?) too far the other and you have Michael Dawson or Fazio.

I can see how in a team that wants to play a high line and aggressively press Sanchez's aggression and pace have some merit, especially if paired up with a a Vertonghen type. It's not like Alderweireld's going to dribble out of defence much.

I questioned the 40m at the time, still don't see how we were persuaded to pay that, then, but at least he's young enough to have some scope and work on things.

I know you cannot ever believe all you read and hear regarding transfers. But maybe stupidly i really wanted to believe that finally the board would be backing the manager with quality signings. But we keep hearing who apparently poch wants, but still nothing. I hope this does not turn into the usual dance. If you want said player then pay the fee required just like when we sell our players when we get the fee we required to allow that player to leave. We seem to do this long drawn out haggle then loose out anyway....almost as if levy is just doing this to then be able to say "well I tried" if that is the case I think he is playing with fire and risking us looking poch. Which i really have no desire to see.

Do you think the board are wrong not paying the rumoured €80m for Ndombele though? How long has it taken De Ligt to chose his move? How long has it taken for Man U to get the Wan-Bissaka fee agreed? The value of money is still as important Asmara it's ever been, we simply need to be patient.

224 pages to go.

1000 pages of hope without a signing of significance would be further indictment on this club.

Just shameful.

Or smart for not paying over the odds for over hyped players? It depends on which way you look at it.

Personally I think the club building what many believe to be the best football stadium in the world shows it's far from shameful at present but each to their own on how they think or feel the club should be run. Those debts got to be paid mate

Sorry but most fans would prefer a strong side over a great stadium.

Yes you may be right mate. I find patience to be overrated tbh. If we get the signings poch wants and needs then happy days. I am not completely convinced that will happen, but willing to suck it and see for the next 3 or 4 weeks before I get apoplectic. LMAO..

A great stadium allows for us to have a greater opportunity to have a great side long term though. Can people really struggle to understand this? The stadium is an investment that allows for us to double our matchday revenue, it's all going to help us be far more self sufficient long term.

Yes it knocks us back for roughly £50m in debt repayments for a decade but without the stadium we simply would have been on borrowed time moving forward. The stadium is a huge step to sustainability, it just means we have a brief moment where we have to juggle things. Got to be patient with the club and just keep enjoying this little spell and ride.

One month ago the news of us getting a contract arranged with ndombele came? Damn in America you guys do really live in the future.
Besides do you think I care whether you believe or not? Just don’t try to belittle me or pass me has a bullshiter. The only times I spoke in these terms where while the club negotiated with Paris Saint germain.

Five or six days before being official.

You probably have a point.

Yeah, let's hope. He just looks so jumpy and scared when the ball is at his feet...but that is better than Chiriches (did he ever get his Chelsea move?) wanting to do rainbows over people in that position.

Two things, firstly since the 17/18 season we have given big bumps in wages to Pochettino, Kane, Dele, Sanchez, Son and Winks I believe so the figures will be larger than this and secondly as of 17/18 we've actually spent nearly £500m on capital expenditure, predominantly around the training ground and new WHL:

Our wage to profit margin is agreeably very low but look at the state of Leicester, Crystal Palace, Everton and Swansea who all spent 100%+ what their profits are.

They spend a lot of their money on wages and signings with owner loaned money, we spent ours or at least the majority of it on CAPEX. This is a far more self sufficient and sustainably shrewd business model. As a club we aren't reliant on our owners in the slightest, apart from how clever they are in handling our finances.

Add the £493m CAPEX to that 50% wage and amortisation % and I think you'll find that percentage will drastically spike closer to how the rest of the league manages their finances. It's smart business in an insane industry. You also need to take into account variable profits that you can't rely on, such as that of making the Champions League in such a competitive league or the knockout stages. Relying on that money to cover previous decision making processes would see one bad season completely derail us like it did with that Yorkshire based team people don't like us talking about a squad a comparative. Sorry but if we spend that money as a dependable income we ask for trouble as and when we do have a blip, it simply isn't worth doing so.
