Who you talking about there bro?
If we can upgrade him I’m fine with it. I’m disappointed we didn’t give KWP more game time over the last three years, and I wouldn’t have minded seeing Aurier get a run of games last season to see if he could iron out some of his “quirks” with a run of games (we both know that that’s reasonably unlikely though, rashness was always his Achilles heel from his Toulouse days).
Spot on IMHO.
I'm not sure what KWP has done to be so on the nose. Surely a just reward for MOTM is another game. Good on him for sticking around. I probably wouldn't.
Anyone have any idea what kind of wages Alves was on? Is it even realistic for us to get him? If so, that’d be incredible. Free transfer and 150k/week for two years with KWP as backup. Sell Trippier for 30m and Aurier for 20m. If KWP can’t cut it then we play Foyth, Dier, Sissoko or someone there as back up. More than likely that Trippier / Aurier are making more combined than Alves would cost plus make some money to apply to other areas.
Alves would be good for the squad IMO , he's a winner that would hopefully help the rest of the team.
I don't disagree with that, but our current squad isn't short of winning mentality. We got to a CL final, 7 of our players got to a WC semifinal, and one won the WC. So, although only one lifted a trophy, getting that far in the two premier tournaments in football builds the kind of mentality that'll get us there in the short term.Alves would be good for the squad IMO , he's a winner that would hopefully help the rest of the team.
I so want to believe this. Kai Havertz please please please! It strikes me that all the talk concerning our potential transfer signings seem to be concentrated on three possibly four names. I sincerely hope that we have other 'irons in the fire' in case the Lo Celso/Ceballos and Sessegnon ones go belly up. Hopefully Levy is allowing the media and other football clubs to be totally distracted by the rumours about these players and he is secretly planning a swoop on someone not even mentioned yet. (Let me dream...let me dream.....we discover the next Messi playing currently for Gillingham and snap him up for £4m)
I think Lo Celso will happen and Caballos will remain at Real, just a case of reaching an agreeable fee now for Sessegnon, rumour is they want £40m and we are offering £25m....surely something around £30m plus bonuses would seal the deal ??
Have to say that I would assume under present circumstances Mr Eriksen would be an automatic consideration for inclusion in any transfer negotiations with other clubs. I would also therefore assume that with no developments either the clubs we are talking to are not interested in him or vice versa....the only other conclusion would be that our valuation of him in such 'swap' talks is considered too high and renders him non-negotiable.![]()

Just look at Lollerpool this year. Only Milner had won anything of note, but getting so close to a major trophy gave them the belief they can get over the line eventually.
I gave up reading after about 20 seconds, dropped to the end there it was - yet another player's reputation saved by demonising Sissoko the footballing satan.

That doesn’t affect me. I never judge players from performances in recent international tournaments.
Learnt that lesson from way back with players like Acimovic and Zokora.
I just don’t like old players, particularly in positions which require lots of stamina/athleticism.
The full back zone will always be the weakest link - and be "targeted" (and you can listen to opponent players - like Pogba - say exactly this) in a system like ours, that pushes them right up, plays a high line and the last two seasons have exasperated this with midfielders that can't play out and forwards that cough up the ball cheaply and don't press cohesively.
Trippier is no more targeted than Rose, (or Walker is at City - as we saw gain this season in CL and league where at one point he was benched) and I've posted very detailed data that supports this and showed that over the course of 17/18 more key passes and shots were made and taken from our left.
I've not denied that Trippier has flaws, and repeated that in the post you quoted, but they are invariably exaggerated, sometimes invented, and in many cases no worse than the flaws of his piers (or no worse in terms of making him less viable as a total package - even ifs those flaws are different to his piers). And as I said, some of the criticism levelled at him, is just poor understanding of his/our tactical application and general failings that he gets blamed for.
I used the passing stats/midfield comparison to highlight that that is effectively what he has had to be this season, a midfielder. Trippier has always had a very high chance creation metric, and that's definitely not just about his crossing, he plays more incisive passes than most of our CM's over the last three years (apart from when Eriksen is considered a CM).
But he's never going to dribble past anyone, he's lacking a bit of physicality and 5 yard burst of pace, but he’s not Corluka either.

All I said was I can understand why decent teams would be interested, especially if they aren’t going to hang their fb’s out to dry tactically, and give them an intellectual pigmy as midfield chaperone.

No doubt another stat and CE wankfest
...this is awkward but it appears you've forgotten to include Trippier, expressly, in this list.
Here's my problem with this, and thankfully you've prepped the switch for your own back here when you said this:
Now, you understand how we intend to play but more importantly you know how we had to play this year...you understand what personnel issues we've had this season, and you know that stats are like a bikini. So my question is this: Why would you post, and keep posting, this apologia for Tripps. He is not good enough, never has been, and just like Walker he has brain farts that cost us.
Why does Trips average more passes/game than our MF? Because we literally bypassed the MF all season as per the Mgr. So what value is there in a comparison relative to our current MF? It's like saying Toby has more headed goals from CKs than Rose. Yeah, no shit, since Rose is in the center circle and Toby's in the box. It's a stat, it's a number, but it has no inferential value and a 'shiniest turd' comparison does not illustrate the unassailable individual quality of a player.
Tripps creates more chances etc etc - A) we have some cloggers, B) Our football was so mind-numbingly 1 dimensional last season (a point of which you are aware) it was the only friggin thing we did with the ball besides hoofing it. And it was worse when Harry dropped back because he was only going out to Tripps because that's the only way he could guarantee it would come back. Tripps get's the ball more often in the attacking third in our awful attack so it stands to reason he would 'create' more chances. And to be clear they were mostly fucking crosses FFS not perfectly weighted through balls. Is that what we want, more crossing? Hell yeah, more crossing, 442, and Brexit bitches!!!!!!!!! So you know, Lloris makes more saves than anyone on the team. Facts!
Tripps averaging most tackles: No shit? BC, I know you are probably only to the Wolves' game in your viewing schedule but as a word of warning teams will be targeting Tripps for the next 19 (or so) games as they did the previous 19 or so you've already watched and he's played. If this stat had any inferential value we could decipher whether or not his massive tackling year was a function of being targeted or being a good player. I fall on the side of having been targeted and thus having the most opportunities to tackle.
Tripps interceptions: see above
It is in the best interest for all that Tripps moves on.
Suck it BC!!!!
