“Don’t kick it into our net”
Probably told him as well that German Burgos will take care of players who do such a thing.

What is this regular back four that you speak of? Don’t think we had a settled back four at any time last season.
Well, I guess the hypothetical best 4 defenders we have. Rose-Vertonghen-Alderweireld-Trippier.

Although I know Trips obviously wasn't at his best all year, those 4 are imo pretty obviously our 'goto' back 4 in the past couple of years.

Sorry Arty but those are 2 things he doesn’t have

The pace is a myth
And his technique is a fucking joke for a pro footballer

He’s a decent athlete but that doesn’t equate to pace
OK, he has decent technique then. apart from throw ins, there was the cross for the the Vertonghen goal against Dortmund and a few good tackles now and again.... it's just that his decision making is so poor that he usually goes with the poor technique solution...

Have you seen him trap a ball?? Deliver a cross ??

His body shape is all wrong. Hence why his first Touch is crap and he can’t deliver with any accuracy

Technique regards his tackling.....not my particular strong suit but his decision to go to ground too readily is something I don’t personally like

Is it really a good idea to sell both Trippier and Rose? And maybe Alderweireld too?

Next year we'd have none of our regular back 4 starters... really risky replacing them all within 12 months imo

But heyo faith etc
Not ideal but Rose going coz Poch has had enough of his negativity. Toby won't sign a contract. Both not fully committed hence bye bye. Trippier you can argue is not much better than other options we have and blocking progress of KWP and Foyth.

The only thing we can agree on is that we're stuck with him for now.

Our defence was rancid last season, moving out some older players is not a big deal. Toby is the only proposed departure that bothers me.
You're not wrong, but there's absolutely no guarantees we'll replace them with players of similar quality, never mind better players. As of now, it would appear our plan is to replace Trippier with no one, which is stupid, Toby by moving Dier back, and Rose with Sessengnon, who hasn't played left back in years.

Hopefully the above doesn't happen, as we would be in a much weaker position, but having seen how long it took us to finally replace Dembélé, I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

Semedo Foyth Jan Davies

Diamond with Winks deep, NDombele and Lo Celso on the outside, Dele attacking

Kane and Son up top

That’s certainly an upgrade from last season
