Let’s not fool ourselves. Coutinho is a top player. But without an option to buy I don’t want it

Agree 100% and then some. I'll take it one further and say we need some sort of obligation to buy/make it permanent as well.

Even with an option to buy, we're back to a gap year player. He made no secret while at Pool that Barca was his dream move, so if he tears it up for us, there's every chance he'll once again his chances of making it at Barca and fuck us over.

A straight up obligation will probably be a hard sell to Coutinho. So maybe a more complex solution of convincing him that we're moving for him, because of ambition. If we make the top 2 in the PL and semi's in the CL or some such thing, a permanent move goes through. If not, it's an option for all parties to access.

That one might be a hard sell to Barca, but hey ho talented as he is, I wouldn't want him, if he doesn't come committed and ready to take part in moving our team and club forward. Especially since he's a streaky player, who's form seems bound up in his mindset.

Dani Olmo starting for Zagreb in their Champions league qualifier

Olmo
Thanks for the heads up. 19:00 KO. Might watch a bit of that if I can get a stream.

UEFA announced on Tuesday it had decided to remove the "cup-tied" rule from all European competitions.

This means that, for the first time, a player could play for two different clubs in the group stage and the knockout rounds of the Champions League, or the Europa League, in the same season. Players could switch between competitions in the past, but not stay in the same one with a second team.

Didn't see that change. That's actually quite big.

Sad thing is that we expect Levy to come up with exciting deadline day deals but looking back in history it's a myth that he is successful.
