Winks gets his fair share of shit and he hasn’t been great this year but today he showed he has real potential as a difference maker. If Winks played like he did today against Newcastle we’d have won 4-1.
To be fair, it's horses for courses. In a game like today, Winks was able to excel as there was so much space to connect our defence and our attack. Against Newcastle, they were sitting so deep/defensive that there wasn't much for him to do - he's not exactly our creative engine.

Can't wait for him to get a run of games with Ndombele next to him.

Toby and Jan escaped criticism today despite being at fault for both goals.

Lots to improve on from the majority
Was PEA off for this goal except for Rose? Couldn’t tell.

The first goal wouldn’t have happened if Rose just fucking cleared it, too.

Back 4 were all not great.

Fantastic first half. Mystified by how the performance dipped second. However, we still had enough chances to nick it & how that spunktrumpet Xhaka stayed on for 90 minutes before even getting a card is one for Arthur C Clarke. Cunt should have seen a straight red first half and had enough yellow card offences throughout to have had his marching orders several times over.

I’m not too disheartened by today overall.
Poch needs to sort out his substitutions though. Absolutely baffling to bring off Son - he was causing them problems every time we attacked.

Moura surely should have replaced him if he had to come off.
Haven’t seen enough of Lo Celso yet, but to be honest I’ve not been too impressed so far.
Upwards and onwards. We dodged a number of bullets in that second half. The gooners will be feeling very salty and that’s another positive to take from today.

I thought overall we were OK, not great. Same for Woolwich. I think actually it would be pretty easy to credit Woolwich with every goal in the game, either through excellent creation for their own goals or shambolic defending for our goals. After Woolwich scored the second goal, I'd say the draw was a fair result based on how the game had been played to that point. Woolwich dominated the last 20 and probably deserved the win, but just. So a slightly lucky result in the end IMO.

Player selection aside, I think Poch's tactics for the game were correct. Defend and play for the counter. Woolwich's attack is really dangerous and we needed men back but their defense can be easily exposed on a counter where they don't have men back. I also appreciated that we played the game cynically, pulling them back and taking yellow cards where necessary to disrupt their rhythm.

MOTM to me is Hugo despite him attempting to gift a goal with a terrible pass. He made a ton of key saves.

Eriksen was very good and critical to our attack. Lots of great passes on the counter and good hustle to get the first goal. He played hard which should silence his critics for one game at least!

Rose made a number of important plays defensively. A really good game for him given some recent performances.

Toby and Jan played well under constant attack. It's really hard to fault them for Woolwich's goals, which were very well worked.

I thought Winks was very good in the first half, less so in the second. Ceballos coming on made a huge difference for Woolwich and they really dominated the midfield from thereon out.

I thought Son and Kane played alright. Involved in the attack, at times good, other times wasteful. If Kane had managed to bury that shot he put off the post, that would've been a really fantastic goal.

Sanchez struggled on the right hand side which is not that surprising, though I think he was better in the second half. Not starting Aurier is a bizarre decision to me.

Lamela was fairly poor. His shot on goal that led to the Eriksen goal was actually pretty weak but I guess he gets credit for the placement causing the goalkeeper to spill it in Eriksen's path. But if Woolwich's defense had been turned on, Eriksen would've been marked there. Lamela's one footedness bit him several times IMO and he was wasteful in attack.

Sissoko was really bad. This is supposed to be his kind of game. Open play where his engine and ability to run with the ball come into play. But we were dominated in midfield for most of the game and he was so incredibly wasteful in attack with gilt-edged chances that it boggles the mind (though this is nothing new). I cannot fathom why Skipp was not brought on to replace him.

I'm always glass is half full, but can't help feeling absolutely gutted...
Imagine how you would be feeling if Woolwich had nicked it at the end

Imagine it

A point away at Woolwich is NOT a bad result.

Not ideal, but we're still just 2 points behind them. It could be much worse

I agree, as lastseason as so far this.
But why Dav gets singled out is beyond me.

First goal Toby was ball watching as Lacazette ran onto the ball, second Jan lost his man.

Regardless of Dav and Danny's failings, neither were responsible for the goals

Martin Atkinson controlled a thrilling North London derby with great experience and it was an excellent decision not to award Spurs a penalty when Harry Kane went down late on.
Kane used his body and leg to initiate the contact with Woolwich defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and it was not a penalty. VAR would have checked the incident but Atkinson's on-field decision was correct.
Should Kane be booked for simulation? I would say not as there is contact.
PGMOL will be happy with the use of VAR after such a bad day on Saturday.

'The ref probably thinks I'm looking for it,' Kane continued, which was a sentiment shared by the likes of Graeme Souness, Jose Mourinho, and Jamie Redknapp.
'I think he's looking for it,' said Souness. '[Sokratis] has got his hands on his back which makes it look like a penalty, but he's ready to go down. I'm not sure if Harry's really convinced.'

Sokratis looked to push into the back of Harry Kane as he went down, but not with much force.
'That kind of contact would not justify that fall,' concluded Souness.
'Harry's looking for it,' said Redknapp, but did question why Sokratis was leading with his hands to start with. 'Why even lay hands on him?'
Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho also didn't believe it should've been a penalty, but would not have been surprised had it been given.
The game ended 2-2, with goals from Christian Eriksen, Kane, Lacazette, and Aubameyang
'I've seen penalties for less,' he said. 'But I don't think [it's a penalty]. Without VAR I would say no for sure, but with VAR now everybody's at risk. I've seen in other countries where VAR is in practice for a couple of years, I've seen worse.'
The game was finely poised at 2-2, after Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Spurs and Kane scored a penalty in the first half.
Alexandre Lacazette got a goal back just before half-time, and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang poked the ball home to equalise after 71 minutes.

Both teams went looking for a win in what became a very open game in the final 10 minutes.

It wasn't quite as disastrous as I feared it might be, too.

I think those who are quick to judge this team need to look at how bare bones certain positions have become that we needed fucking Sanchez as a right back. Yes, there is the 'well why sell Trippier?' argument but it's not like the coaching staff had soothsayers that would predict KWP and Foyth injuries.

Touch wood, it'll be a lot different after the international break.
And Dier and Aurier (assuming he is not fit)

We basically corrected our biggest weakness (midfield) with 2 of the best 3 midfielders available (Rodri being the other). Chelsea have a worse squad and a worse manager and United marginally improved their defense without upgrading their midfield and have a hobbit for a boss.

Unless Leicester sneaks into the mix we are competing with Liverpool and Woolwich for 2-4. I genuinely think Ndombele and Lo Celso are worth 10 points.
Hm if our biggest weakness was central midfield, what do you call full back??? Oh and by the way, we have one senior striker. Poch even admitted Kane's back up is only Parrott, so I don't think we can use the excuse that Son is his backup when even our manager thinks otherwise :)

In the window we strengthened central midfield but weakened defence. We also failed to sell one of Toby/Jan who will both leave next year instead of replacing one of them now.

Because Davidson has been bad all 4 games, but today wasn’t his fault.

Rose was more than a little responsible for the first.

I get it you are a moron you don’t have to keep going on about it.

Apologies to those who made sensible, insightful posts but I haven't got the time to sift through.
Although I would have taken a draw before the game, and I was relieved that we held on at the end, I thought they were there for the taking. Sure, they had more of the possession, but at one count, we definitely had more shots on target.
Don't know what it is about the NLD, but on so many occasions, the team who go ahead usually end up chucking it away.
I felt for Davy, as he is so NOT a full back, surely we would have been better off with Aurier or even Jan?
Good to see Dele back, he does add an extra oomph when he plays forward.
Hugo made some good saves but does annoy me a tad when he doesn't clear the box when kicking out, sometimes it's OK to lump it as far as you can.
Hopefully we can now regroup and get our injured players back, so we're good to go on three weeks.

And so was the golden boy who cant be criticised. Jan had two players while Toby marked no one.

If Dav was at fault for last week's goal, Toby was at fault this week.

Jan didnt react for the second goal, which was eerily similar to the one we conceded last week

I’m not trying to argue anyone in the back four had a good game. No press on the ball for the 2nd goal either.

Whatever, I’m not throwing the defense in the dumpster yet.

Shocking decision not to involve Moura. Argentine AVB needs to give answers.
Go fuck a mongoose prickdribble. We've been utter shit so far this season yet we've got a draw away to the Sandmomkeys and now those cunts.....Newcastle was an aberration but we're nicking points against the so-called big 6. Personally I dreaded today but going to bed relatively happy/ relieved now everyone chill and have a good evening
