Yeah you missed that a good manager is more important than spending a lot

And this is correct.

I think and all the evidence tells us Pochettino is a good manager. No real doubt about that but.....

In Klopp and I am not convinced you have always thought this, we see a mamager who is a level above. Whatever it is and whatever the quality he possesses (maybe just being a winner) he has it.

Pochettino's biggest weakness for me or what is seemingly becoming clear is that he needs the tools maybe even more than he is able to employ the tools.

If that is the case then he is never going to reach the elite status because that's about knowing what players you need for a capable squad, coaching, psychology and being ruthless.

No successful manager in my years of watching football would ever have allowed Rose to play for our club again after his outburst, whatever its reason or intention or relied solely on Kane as a striker. They are just 2 examples of the difference between elite status and Pochettino and yet they reveal so so much.

I didn't say we spent £140m mate, I just said that we've had over £140m worth of players coming in. Grealish the summer before they wanted £45m after the takeover, that ain't happening it isn't worth doing for a championship player. Even though I like him we can't go spending that kind of dough.

We e actually paid off around £500m for the stadium an drew training ground already, we have been balancing money for a fair old while, probably around a decade before we actually moved in. If people like it or not we have a huge debt that needs paying back an drew this will affect our spending, it's niajve to think it won't. Like any debt in any walk of life it will need paying off and money doesn't grow on trees mate. It cost over £1.2bn, indo care how much money is in football these days that is a mega amount which when you look at the cost of players these days needs balancing.

When did you ever think you'd see Spurs play £62m for a player? We did that this season under Poch an drew with Levy at the helm. That is a huge step and one I didn't expect to see for a while but it's however we all look at it pal. I think at a time where clubs are chucking money at players for huge amounts which leaves them with bloated squads with players they can't move on, ours doesnt look as bad as if we had been loose. For every Grealish wanted Poch also has a Berahino or a Schneiderlin that we were wise to not move for. Swings and roundabouts and all of that etc.
Who's Andrew Training?

Totally agree and you’re right I never always saw Klopp as a better manager than Poch, but that became apparent LONG BEFORE he won the CL.
Made many posts referring to my position on our problems over a year ago and how Klopp would have this same set of players playing better football than Poch.

People seem to think that us “not being able to get a better manager than Poch” means the squad needs replacing.

No, it just means we need to find a manager that doesn’t play a diamond with these players.

Has Klopp got more teeth than he's supposed to?

It's going to be interesting on the Levy/Pochettino dynamic.

My view is that today's result won't have a bearing unless we get humiliated. How can it really.

I suspect (no real basis) that Levy is going to give Pochettino one or two more tools and be seen to be fair.

My concern is whether that reveals the same type of weakness or position that Pochettino has taken with Rose and undermines us.

Pochettino should have got more from the group of players during his time with us. He has done well but not achieved the miracles some say.

It's very much whether Levy believes Pochettino can come again and be better still. I worry that the likes of Gerrard and Lampard could do for their clubs what he can't because they have the tools and the love that means they bleed the colours of their respective clubs.

And yes I talk of Gerrard as and when he takes the reins at Liverpool, off the back of the successes of Klopp.

But I do maintain there is no obvious stand out replacement as yet.

Personally would love him to join Spurs - wanted Spurs to buy him off Charlton a few years ago.

Can play RB and CB what's not to like.

But I'd be really surprised if Liverpool sold to us

How you guys ( Spursidol Spursidol Five Five ) mocked my Lesniak obsession - what would you give now to have a proper little DM busy cunt like him now eh....

I still don't know why Poch fucked off Marsh and Amos this summer, both could have done a better job as 6's than Winks, Sissoko or Dier. (even though I know Amos has been playing more as an 8 lately)

Don't think they want to sell him anyway, he has got a contract until 2024 and could easily fight his way back into the team, he's only 22 years old.

Agreed.

Although they still have Nathan Clubs as back up - he was their first choice RB, originally at Spurs academy, before injury about 2 or 3 years ago and a lengthy recovery with s loan to Bournemouth last season to get minutes. So not short of cover.

But with s contract to 2024 don't need to sell to Spurs if they don't want to any more than Aarons who has a contract to 2023. Even player power might be difficult with that length of contract.

In addition to 22 year old KWP whose lack of game time is a problem we also have 19 year old Hinds in the u21s who would be a very decent prospect if he had a loan or minutes in the first team - good player capable of playing RB, LB DM etc.

Spurs really need a plan for players aged 18 to 21 as at present going to train with the first team is like entering the Bermuda triangle, they just never come out. Am getting worried over both Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga atm.

If we bought Gomez or Aarons it's going to be for big money - really shows up the cost of not having a plan to develop our young academy pkayrrs, just as Chelsea playing 5 of their academy prospects this season does

We probably have better in Skipp. Problem us he's getting no minutes this season despite looking good ini preseason and a decent debut season last year

Marsh is too limited technically, but let's see after his loan this season. Amos might be ok just too limited experience after unlucky injury took him out all last season, hence loan this season.

Comes back to Spurs lack of development plan for 18 to 21 year old though.

Skipp is obviously is the most talented and has the higher potential of the bunch, but all the others were older and further on, and I think could have done that more one dimensional job that we are lacking so badly of just being a Wanyama type of busy cunt, allowing others to play.

And none of them are more limited technically than Sissoko or Dier are - as midfielders.
