Supporters Rudiger claims he heard monkey chants

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I once heard a fan call chimbonda a 'black cunt' in the park lane...not very loudly so no way it could be heard on the pitch, and realistically only a few closeby could have. I didn't report as
1. No way I could prove it
2. His mates next to him would have said it was a lie
3. If they had a suspicion it was me they could have possibly started on me

Not the same as this incident but just my e.g of not reporting

Btw quite a few posters including myself have stated we have heard racist comments/abuse at the Lane before from out lot. Does the fact that there is no video evidence mean we didnt hear it and it didn't happen?

Having whiteness racism 3 times in the last 3 years in our stadium the last thing that came to my mind was to get my mobile out of my pocket.

Until you’ve encountered it, until you are confronted with it and then presented with the decision of what your next action will be you have no idea how difficult it is. It takes bollocks to do something. You don’t know if confronting them means it’s you that Is their next victim, whether they have more mates around to make matters worse.
To some (me) it’s not in my immediate nature to grass, I’d sooner deal with it myself (not saying it’s right or wrong) just that’s my first reaction.

So, if I’ve chosen to confront and they are now threatening me am I still expected to get my mobile out? Whilst I’m now being threatened why is no one else coming to my help? Why is no one else filming it? In my case they left and went to sit somewhere else. No one came to my help, no one filmed anything. But after they left everyone around me then piped up and said well done and how disgusting that was.
Everyone behaves differently, but I can tell you that the preference for the majority is to keep their nut down and not get involved.
Unless this didn’t happen because no one got their mobiles out there’s no evidence right.
No in theory if your at a football match in which you’ve paid a lot of money to watch you should be concentrating on the game! But You know as well as I do that’s not the case now if a situation occurred as you said you’ve I encountered racism and confronted it no your first reaction won’t be to get your phone out for various reasons but what I’m saying is that no one in that area whether directly and more likely indirectly in this case didn’t have a phone in hand.....really? In which case Tottenham fans must have been totally absorbed
With the game, and obviously with the exception of one or two fans or..........?

So many people on here using terms like 'us', 'we', 'them'...
This is nothing to do with football, and nothing to do with the club they follow.

Were the situation 10s, 100s, or 1000s of fans all being racist as one, I would think this is problem with the Tottenham fan base. But it seems to be about 1 individual. Once that individual is caught, (assuming they did it) they should receive a lifetime ban, taking away any rights they had to represent our club in future.

What has nothing to do with skin colour is how much of a cunt Rudiger is. That look over his shoulder while on the ground deceiving the referee into giving a red card - it's cheating. I would expect our fans to give him a hard time when he gets near after that... boo's, calling him a cunt, wanker signs - the usual.

As a human in that situation, it's going to get your back up.. you're going to have to listen to all the abuse with no reaction. What can be heard will be chaotic, so to see monkey gestures or to hear monkey noises being made - the accused must be very close to the front. I think had the monkey gestures been made, we would have seen pictures like in the Manchester derby. But given the situation happening at the time, I do think it could have been easy for Rudiger to genuinely mishear something. I struggle to believe he incorrectly saw something though, and if the gestures were made I'm also amazed they haven't been caught. Swift action is necessary in a situation like this, but it seems we are unable to take action without the necessary supporting evidence.

This leads me to believe he heard something rather than saw. The classic 'monkey' sound is not too far from a 'boo' - which require a pretty similar mouth shape.. problematic for the lip readers I'm sure.

It's difficult though. I don't think Rudiger fabricated the accusation from nothing - even though he had moments before successfully deceived the referee. I am starting to wonder if he 'heard what he wanted to hear'.. and by that I don't mean he 'wanted' to be racially abused - but through all of the cunt calling, was half expecting and listening out for something of a racist nature. After all, Rudiger like most black people have to endure a complete life time of being on the receiving end of bullshit abuse like that because of their skin colour.

I am one of those idiots that has far more bottle than ability so i would be quite/very likely to speak up. I have a very long fuse but once it goes..it goes!
In all the years i have been going to spurs, even in much less enlightened times, there's always been people like yourself. My father was the same.I remember him turning on people on two occasions, once when a bloke was singing the Munich song and another when a bloke was going on about Liverpool fans not having jobs.I am under no illusions we have spurs fans who have views that many of us would find distasteful. What i am struggling with,is that no one appeared to hear it and no one said anything. Not everyone is built the same way,and wouldn't literally confront the person, but not even a shouted "have a word mate".Everyone i know that sits in that part of the ground, that i have spoken to, claim not to have heard anything of racist nature.I have asked ,male female ,black and white. No one heard it.That is why i'm struggling to believe it,not because i doubt we have people capable of saying these things.

Exactly. I think they player thinks he heard it but is LIKELY to have misheard it. So far there has been ONE unsubstantiated Tweet to back up the claim.

I don't know how many times I have to say, anyone proved to have made racist gestures, slurs or anything else should be banned.

Nope. Let me spell it out for you. I am talking about the incident that happened at the Chelsea game.
So you are saying for this incident in particular you are applying the "it didnt happen if no evidence is found" ideology but for other incident involving race you don't apply it?

The fact is you stated there was 2 groups. The group that says we need to see evidence before deciding whether it happened and the group that want to condemn the club/fans without evidence.
I asked why havent you mentioned the third group which are the people who have stated it didnt happen ....your response was that it did not happen being that there was no evidence. Wow.
