Although it’s easy to rinse West Ham, I will try to resist doing so and call this how it see it.
their ambition is what is actually killing them. Their aspiration should be to be competing as well as Wolves & Leicester or dare I say it how “West Ham” used to.
Rather than aiming to be the next Arse / United or even us.
They are not that level and have never been a top tier club and never will be. Simple. And that’s not dismissive, it’s fact and looking at the big house with the sports car does not mean your own house is shit because it’s a semi with a people carrier and that’s what West Ham need to realise. They have it pretty good as it is, appreciate that ! Anything more and their own reality is against them, as is the wider reality that much bigger and better clubs have more history to fall back on and more right to aspire to be an elite club, for example Nottingham Forest or Villa than they have ever had.
The more the owners banged on about “next level” the more stupid they have made their own club look. If they could take their heads out of the Twitter universe’s arse & aim to just do as well as they can, rather than seek non existent approval from an imbecile fan base the happier everyone would have been.
From where I am from, growing up there was a 50/50 West Ham / Spurs split and it was always something I quite liked. The first game I ever went to on my own without an adult was West Ham v Oxford in the league cup.....I never hated them, they generally did not like us on the “hooligan” level, but day to day fans had few problems
That is until Sugar fucked us up and managed to do something West Han never could manage themselves, putting them ahead of us....and somehow that period in the 90’s really twisted their view on the world and that chip got massive and since they have continued to cling to that period as “our rivals” like Shit sticks to Chewbacca’s fur.
It’s changed how I view them and despite a lot of mates still being West Ham, I do enjoy them losing, but I don’t like what their owners are putting them through as a fan base.
It’s all rather pathetic and made worse by twerps like Jack Sullivan and his ( potential ) father and his chum Auntie Karen, vomiting out bollocks every time they can. To bring Moyes back is just desperate. It really is and it’s a slap in their fans faces.
all in all, fuck the owners, but with the caveat that their problems are solved with a little less delusion and focus on being what they are and always have been and thats not what they currently trying and failing to be.
Moyes. Fucking hell. Sunderland alone should have seen that clown never work again.
