Of course, and there is also the "Levy factor" of pricing to deal with.

But the likes of CCV surely would be desirable at the right price to a lot of clubs, same Wanyama, same KWP.

Players still in their prime faced with the threat of having no football if they stay will be more open to leaving than players hanging round the first team waiting for their chance.

LOL..... You can't be serious?????

The likes of Wanyama & Rose have already proven tough to shift. You're ignoring reality.

Same as Eriksen for different reasons.

Homegrown players on low wages (like KWP & CCV) aren't the problem.

With the news KWP is likely headed out on loan, I think that makes it more likely we will bring in a RB this window. Unless of course Jose views Foyth as a capable backup at RB, which would be interesting since he's only played Foyth at CB.

Don't get it why do we bother loaning him.
Sell him, get some cash and buy a replacement, ffs lad is soon 23 and has no experience nor physique needed to cut it in top level. Let's forget this meaningless sentimental stuff about being academy player and winning youth tournament.

If you have never played consistent first team football by 22,5, you can't be good enough.

Hopefully he will do reasonably well at Palace and possibly they - or any other club - will sign him in the summer, nobody is prepared to pay more than a couple of millions for him at the moment.

Players who won't play and are bloating the squad are the reason for a bloated squad, regardless of where they were born and how much they earn. CCV and KWP, if they are not in the manager's plans are still two places that aren't needed, so they are still a problem.

I'm not ignoring reality. I'd imagine Wanyama would go if we'd accept offers from clubs that interest him. If Celtic offered us £5million isn't that better than sitting on his ass doing nothing for us? So why look silly money? Did Rose knock back Watford? Or had Watford two bids rejected?

There's your reality. Players offering nothing can be got rid of if the board don't act the tit and accept lower fees than they deem.

Maybe, just maybe, our "master negotiator" isn't as masterful as we all think he is.

A loan can be a good way to get him exposure to sell him on later, also if he does well we could always theoretically bring him back into the squad.

Or get exposed as not good enough player if he fails?

At this current point in time it seems more likely that together with our PR department we can sell the story of "promising young player who has not been able to dispatch senior international players from his position" etc, maybe likes of Newcastle, Watford or whoever he played good games against will buy the story and pay us like 15 mil or so. And we could invest it into player who actually contributes to the team.

Clubs are not buying that. I'm sure if there was a 15m offer for Kyle Walker-Peters, he wouldn't be here right now. What club is going to pay that for someone who has made a total of 24 appearances in 3 seasons and has zero loan experience?

Meh... Wanyama is in his "prime" and should be "easy" to sell. Good luck with that.....

Btw, he was reported to block his move in the summer due to not being willing to take a hit on his wages even though trf fees were agreed.

Re: Homegrown/Non-HG is a factor.... We need to free up Non-HG spots most urgently. CCV doesn't even have a squad spot, so no, he's not an issue; similarly if we loan KWP out as reported then he won't be problematic either. Selling Non-HG players and those on higher wages is the most prudent route to trimming the squad.

Wanyama wants to go to Celtic, thats why he blocked the move. I guarantee if we accepted a fee with them, below what Levy wanted, his wages suddenly wouldn't be a problem. He's talked about it, he's had others talk about it for him. You've accepted the Rose problem was at Board level, not player level.

And I agree about selling Non-HG, but who do you sell considering most of our starters are NON HG. Well Eriksen is going, so that's that problem away. Vertonghen should follow suit, unless he's offered a new contract, hopefully not tripling his wages. Vorm will be away too.

But regardless, too many players is too many players.

Vic: Turkey also mentioned.... We'll see. Got any links to his interview re: his wages?
Rose: No, I'm just unaware of the circumstances.... All I know is we declared him free to go; didn't take him on tour for that reason and yet he's still here.

Wanyama & Eriksen are the obvious names.

There you go then... That's 4 non-HG.

But regardless, too many players is too many players.

Bit of a hollow statement given the discussion we've found ourselves having.... Signing HG players and making room for them isn't a challenge... Doing the same for Non-HG is.

Considering DM is widely seen as our biggest need, by ignoring the HG issue, we're stuck having to sign a Brit. Any suggestions of someone HG who'll be a surefire success and save our season?

(Tricky question, huh.....)
