The reason for only loan signings and only giving Mourinho a short term (ish) contract is because ENIC are looking to sell.

The club are in its most financially sound position it’s ever been in, the new stadium is built, the naming right are rumoured to be almost agreed for over £400m and we have our best players tied down to long contracts. It just makes sense that ENIC aren’t committing to new signings as they don’t want to pay the big bucks if they are moving on.

They aren’t looking to sell. The reasons for the loans are quite simple. We need players in midfield and attack and there’s nobody out there that we want to/can buy now so a loan is by far the best option. It doesn’t saddle the club with players we don’t want long term and fills a need we require now. Plus leaves us more cash to spend (fingers crossed) in the summer when our actual targets (optimistically) are available.

If the players on loan do well then we might take them, but if they don’t they can fuck off back to their clubs and that’s that.

Why would we go out and buy the shit over priced players that are available in Jan which then takes away from our spending power in the summer?

nobody worth their salt is available in this window, if anyone is important to their teams then they are staying where they are till the summer. They are either crocked, too old or out of form.

They are all Portuguese so Jose will know about them.

I think these loan signings are smart business, and I do think they are signings Mourinho would have asked for, just to keep us going until we can actually be aggressive in the market come June.

I reserve my right to see them both play first !!! before I can answer that. As for Skipp and Parrott I'm not sure either would help or add anything. Lets face it this season is a wash out and whoever the manager gets in short term I'm happy to trust his judgement (as he's a serial winner!!) and as there both loan deals we don't have to buy if there shite

The whole point is we don't we should scout properly, we've had plenty of time to do that.
I don't see these guys doing much this season, they've never played at this level and need time to settle in.
