I openly admit and have done numerous times that Levy & ENIC come with their faults though, I've never said they were the epitome of perfection but I do think they have done far more good than bad when looking after the best interests of our football club.

A top class training centre compared to the little dive we had in Chigwell, the new stadium getting a vast amount of buzz globally compared to the old place that we all loved but was ultimately holding us back, all built, developed and completed whilst we stayed the most competitive we have ever been in PL era or since the 60s league wise. We did all of that whilst only selling one senior player, Kyle Walker.

To do these things and end up with what will probably be close to around £400m retained profit collectively at the club is a huge achievement that allows us to now organically go to the next levels, hence the shift from hiring the likes of Jol to someone like Mourinho. We just had to/ have to be patient it's the hardest step doing what we've been trying to do, I mean how long did Man City have their new owners in charge until they started winning the league and how long has it taken Liverpool to get their hands on the PL trophy? Just a little patience as the funds are seriously starting to stack up for us now which means a higher calibre we can work with.
In fairness mate everyone has been patient for a long time decades even and yet still the excuses keep stacking up for the reasons of our lack of success.
Give it to next season and it will be can't spend due to Brexit uncertainty then it will be Donald trump getting impeached so again can't buy, so when does the excuses stop and the club actually delivers on the mess that is being served up currently for fan's paying the highest prices in the league where is the justification for that.

More key points dropped all over the shop today.... That's why we shouldn't give up hope... Look at the clusterfuck that was last year's race for top 4... No reason why this year will be any different.

Yes, it's likely reliant upon our trf business... But the season is not a write off.
We haven’t scored a single goal in 3 games, have no DM, no replacement striker, a defense made up of utter clowns and has beens and play boring, turgid, long ball football. Love your logic though - lol

deulofeu looked brilliant yesterday. Exactly what we are missing..pace..width ..trickery and genuine threat down the flanks.

Should've invested in him instead of Lamela

Grealish seems to be quality, doubt he’s still 20 odd million and to think there was baffling haggling over the fee that delayed the transfer and then that new money came in for Villa. All about timing that one.

Agreed.

This time it's fair to say Levy's unwillingness to pay up backfired.

Backfired only IF we are convinced he would have been better than what we have.

Good player that he is, it is still not certain in my opinion that we would be in a better place. For sure he would need to be alongside a Wanyama -type player at his best or what Dier was like when he knew how to do his job properly.

We kinda don't have much choice other than to be patient really, this season is what it is.

In the past ten years we've seen our team go from a mid table team to one consistently probing the top 2-3 spaces in the league, making the knockout phase of the Champions League, even made a final for the first time and have done so during a time where we've finally been able to settle in our new stadium. We've gone from having a manager like Juande Ramos to someone like Mourinho, all infrastructure required is complete whereas ten years ago we were still having issues with that steelworks company over land etc.

It's been a long time but we are in it for the long haul. The only shame is that our best squad for some time didn't make it over the line but with three cup finals and a fair few semi finals where we just came up short as the 6th biggest financially able team in the league I'm not quite sure what more the owners could have done unless they started pushing the spending above our means. The summer we didn't sign anyone was iffy yeah but we did still get top four that year and did still make a Champions League final. We have also proactively paid off around £300m-£450m of the stadium ten years previous to it being built, people forget that when comparing Pochettinos net spending figures, we've really had to juggle things but people still can't get their head around the idea that a £1.2bn stadium hasn't just dropped into N17 out of thin air.

This team reached the end of its cycle. Most teams when they do have a stutter but we are a completely different animal to the team we were the last time we had to add in a couple of places.

We can still roll out a starting XI looking like Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Ndombele, Gedson, Dele, Lo Celso, Son, Kane when we have them fit, and can still have a second string looking like Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Sanchez, Foyth, Rose, Dier, Winks, Eriksen, Sessegnon, Lamela, Lucas etc with players like Wanyama, Parrott & Skipp adding depth it's not exactly a poor team it just needs finely tuning once or twice every window.

Unpopular opinion - I’d rather sign Grealish over Bruno Fernandes.

I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion at all, but we aren’t going to sign either of them. We had our chance to sign Grealish and blew it, now he will cost £60m and be able to ask for a huge wage at United, City, Chelsea or Liverpool.

I wonder if Levy ever reflects on how stupid it was when he offered £3m+ Onomah for him. If we had signed him that summer for the reasonable £20m that was quoted, our team wouldn’t be in such a mess right now.
