We can't get rid of Wanyama for several windows now since he's out of form and doesn't want to lower his wage demand (allegedly).

This sounds extreme, but we should loan him out for free and hope he does somewhat ok and suitable clubs take notice, because as of right now I can only see him running down his contract.
What if he doesn't want to go on loan?

Wanyama is our Bale – high wages that no possible suitor can and wants to afford. Happens at every level. He's been getting a decent wage and doesn't feel like a pay cut. He'll train and be avilable for selection. He is keeping his head down and not making any noise to the media. It happens, players get injured and go out of form, not a lot we can do.

Bale played el classico last month and even scored a goal which was ruled out by VAR , can you trust Wanyama in a NLD?

That's not what he meant.

He meant that Victor's salary, estimated to be 60-80k a week. Is putting other clubs off of bidding him since that is a big chunk of salary basically anywhere outside of England. The same way a lot of clubs are iffy about trying to sign Bale because his current salary of uptowards 600k a week is just too hard to match.

But Real still use their unwanted player in important games and trust him to make an impact. Our unwanted player wouldn't even get a game at League One team, he's that finished.

But why is that his fault? He was exceptional for a while, player of the season type of player. He has had a couple of bad injuries and his body is letting him down but he has had those injures whilst playing and training for us. He has every right to not want a pay cut unless the pleasure of playing regularly is more of a pull - to some it's not! Maybe, just maybe he knows his body has given up and after this contract that will be him done. If that's the case why not maximise your earnings as long as you can?

Personally I would rather see him ply his trade elsewhere and will wish him well on his way but if he sees his contract out, there is very little we can do about it.

Maybe we could subsidise his salary until his contract expires, if we get £8-10m and cover 50% of his salary that wouldn't be a bad compromise for the next 18months. At least it would clear a player off our books.

Bale cost and is still costing Madrid an absolute fortune, you would expect if fit he is able to make a difference once in a while. As I originally stated it seems that Madrid would rather see him go but nobody can afford him. It happens at every club and at every level. Victor is our Bale

Hahah, I'd forgotten about Paul Mitchell and his top secret scouting machine

Yup his 'mate' recruited fir Southampton...….but apparently not sorry to see him go so as to get
He had a say in transfers but not the final say, he still had to go through the transfer committee. He probably thought that a DOF would be on Levy's side more than his, therefore it's counter productive to have another barrier there. He obviously wasn't happy that we didn't buy anyone in summer 2018, he kept coming out and saying the club had to be brave.

He had more influence than any other manager, but the general story of being frustrated with control over transfer that other managers had before him is the same.

He had a huge amount of influence on transfers - compare that with Liverpool (currently the best at transfers in PL as well as top of the table) whos have a DoF and Analytics team (ironically both hired from Spurs) who make all transfer decisions - to the extent that Klopp is on record as saying he didn't want Salah but DoF bought him anyway. Think Klop p is pleased he has a DoF now.

The days when any manager had total control over transfers are long gone - but Poch had far more control over transfers and loans for younger players etc than probably more any other PL manager.

Wish we had recruited the Head of Recruitment/DoF and an analytics team back in 2018, as I doubt if our squad would have been in the current state that it is.

subsidise his wages as part of the player swap till the end of his current contract, else tell him he wont even train with the reserves..this affects his career at the end of the contract

Mr Edwards (Dof) to Mr Klopp - 'Can I introduce you to Mr Salah who has just joined us, would you like to say something to him '

Mr Klopp to Mr Salah - 'Hello'...…...….'I guess you need to join training now you are here'

:wall: :wall:

Don't think Klopp had much choice, although above may be a bit OTT.
From the horse's mouth, Liverpool's recruitment department wore him down. They were like a flea in his ear about Salah.

He has no incentive to agree to a wage cut. In fact, he knows he needs to make as much money as possible now given that he is at the end of this career.
