Thought I'd do a summary of the squad based upon CL rules - after Walker-Peters loan announced.
All players are categorised as Overseas Trained unless they are shown as Club trained or trained by another Club affiliated to the Football Association (Assn) or under 21 (u21)
Gk’s - Lloris, Gazzaniga
CB’s - Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Tanganga, (u21) Foyth (u21)
FB’s - Aurier, Rose (Club), Davies
CM’s - Ndombele, Gedson Winks (Club), Dier, Sissoko, Wanyama, Skipp (u21)
AM’s - Dele (Assn), Son, Moura, Lamela. Lo Celso, Sessegnon (Assn) , Bergwijn
FWD’s – Kane (Club) , Parrott
Summary
Club Trained - 3 (Kane, Rose, Winks)
Assn Trained - 2 (Dele, Sessegnon)
Overseas Trained - 18
u21's - 3 (Tanganga, Skipp, Foyth)
ATM there are 18 Overseas Trained players - one more than the maximum of 17 allowed. Of course that includes Parrott, and given we want him to sign a new contract, we probably want to include him in the squad, even though he doesn't play much.
If we sign a new striker, its likely that Parrott will go on loan. But that also means we will still have one more overseas trained player than allowed.
So options ATM will be :
1. Leave Sissoko out of CL squad as he will be injured until April, so probably only available for semi final and final if we get that far or
2. Leave Wanyama out of the CL squad - but whether that has implications arising from his contract I am unclear.
Summary also shows we have room in the squad to sign 3 club and Assn. players without a problem - but overseas trained players may cause us problems unless we plan to exclude some players from CL squad
With differing rules for PL squad, Davies will qualify as Home Grown (HG) and Parrott qualifies as an u21, meaning we would have 16 overseas trained players - and space for up to one more.
