Match Tottenham Hotspur v Man City (2/2/2020)(4.30pm)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gonna get our arses shagged here 2-4 .
This games a free hit. No pressure really.

next wednesday’s fa cup game is more important

City could tear us apart. But I guess Jose will test out our sides defensive capabilities and play purely on the break.

Soton game is massive though. Kindest FA cup draw we have had in a while. Be good not to fuck it up.

Is there any reason Son isn’t being played up top whilst Harry’s out?

I mean last year he was absolutely fantastic when he stepped in

and Moura is not cutting it at all

have I missed something ?
Under Poch we were playing through the lines, getting the ball on the ground and using his strengths.

Mourinho is very much long ball, which Son isn’t able to hold up the ball or win headers. Lucas hasn’t been great at it either in all fairness.

Lucas is worse than holding onto the ball than Son is

and whilst I agree with your take on our style of play..... son is no slouch so could play off The shoulder as well and it’s hardly like we’re total hoof ball with Maureen

I think I was wondering if I’d missed Son being given a chance up top ..... but that’s not the case then it seems

Our manager only needs to study the form of Son when he replaced Harry last .... and it was only a year ago for evidence that he is far more than just capable

infact say it quietly but we played better without Harry in the team for a reasonable period

it’s my opinion this is a glaring oversight by Maureen and if son was played up top he’d score goals .... as previously

I think Son’s best position is off the left, but we need someone who can bring him into play more. Kane is obviously world class at that, but someone like Giroud would also be very good at that.

On Lucas, if I’m honest, I think he’ll be sold in the summer. He’ll always be remembered for the Ajax performance, but he’s very inconsistent. Bergwijn and Son will be the wingers going forward I think.

Not sure Mourhino seems to really rate him

regards Son ... i may well be in the minority but I think he’s as effective through the middle as he is to the left

also I think he thrived off the responsibility of being the furthest forward.

Son has actually been a little wasteful this year. Chances thought he would have got scored and or least hit the target he was put wide or over.

51 shots got him 12 goals last season.

To date 43 shots And 6 goals.
But 3 goals scored under Jose having also missed 3 matches. So that’s a positive too.

And he’s getting good chances. I just think Jose likes having the ability to stretch the play pace our wide and Dele’s awareness flicks etc in the middle of the pitch.

Yeah he’s not been as clinical granted .... but that might change given that responsibility... he thrived off it before

I agree dele is better in the middle than Moura

I just think Son is the pick from his record previously and not sure why he hasn’t been given a go considering we’ve hardly been banging em in

Assuming if we do sign a striker, it will be on deadline day and probably too late to be registered for this one. Dele for me should start through the middle in a sort of false 9 instead of Moura, who is just incapable of holding the ball up, and would rather see what the new lad can offer us on the right.[/FORMATION]

Guardiola's defensive gamble
Tottenham v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)
Simon Stone
BBC Sport
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he 'sent a message' to his players with his team selection on Wednesday - and may repeat it at Tottenham on Sunday.
Guardiola picked two full-backs - Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo - in a three-man defence against Manchester United, with Nicolas Otamendi his only recognised centre-half.
Afterwards, Guardiola admitted Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho were all doubts for this weekend's game - and the speed of Tottenham's attacking players may lead him to continuing the experiment.
"I sent a message to my players against United that we want to attack," said Guardiola. "I sent six or seven players up front. People cannot say we just tried to defend.
"Manchester United played with two incredibly fast strikers. You need legs to defend this position. Son and Lucas are incredibly fast for Tottenham, so there is a chance I will do it again."
