Expecting to resolve all the squads issues in a January window is not realistic. Solving 3 is decent going.

I'd say, of all the clubs in Europe, we're in the top 5% in terms of getting quality in.

Inter Milan signed Eriksen and Young ffs.

Yes, resolving all is unrealistic.
But 4 out of 6 isn't, specially as 1 out of 6 was getting troublemakers out.

I agreed at the very beginning that we are in better position than before window.
But in my eyes we should be even bit more stronger. And fact that we are not is irritating me greatly.

So Mourinho has admitted that he needs a striker and isn’t getting one

Yet I still imagine that he will shoulder the blame of many fans when we finish 12th
If you think an average striker is the difference between 4th and 12th you're high.

Also, there is no guarantee a new striker is going to be banging in goals (link):

“The biggest spike in demand is for strikers in January window,” says [21st Club’s Omar] Chaudhuri. “But about half of all the strikers that are bought in January don’t even score a goal between then and the end of the season. So this idea that you can just get a guy in who will score you 10 goals is a complete fallacy.”

Strikers make up 20 per cent of January signings in the big five leagues, according to 21st Club. But only 14 per cent of those strikers scored five or more league goals during their first half-season, and 55 per cent of them fail to score a single league goal.

Most people on here say we need a striker to score goals, so let's say he's one of the 14% and he scores 5 goals over 14 league matches, which isn't a a bad return. That's worth maybe 3 points. Typically 4th finished at around 69 points. 12th finishes around 45.

So no, I don't think a striker is the difference between top 4 and 12th. Maybe the difference between 4th and 5th, though, which is the real issue. Spurs need a striker for Mou's preferred attacking style, not banging in goals, but the difference between Son/Lucas and an average striker is probably 1-2 points at most. So we'll know in May if we are 2 points out of top 4 that not having a striker bit us in the ass.

Right, if we're not getting a striker, what we need to do is something they'll never suspect!

Let's try to break down the flanks and run it to the corner while we throw bodies forward, then lift it to the edge of the box for the late-arriving and unmarked Lloris to spank it into the net on the volley :llorishowudoin:

Well we are a massive 4 points off 12th right now so I wouldn't rule it out , we are going to struggle to win matches without an out and out striker , especially when you add that to all the other issues we have had for the best part of a year now

We haven't really done anything this month to address the key problems in this side , we will continue to leak goals and struggle to score them in my opinion but I guess we'll see
We were also struggling to win matches with an out and out striker.

There are 11 points between 5th place and 19th place, so most teams are unsure how things will work out - although its highly unlikely that we or ManU or Wolves for example will end up in the bottom half of the table but anything is mathematically possible including us finishing 3rd !
