Rodgers will say joining us is a step down for Chilwell

and if we were leicester fans we'd be saying that. you'd after years of finishing ahead of United/Liverpool/Chelsea but the media still asking why don't they just buy our players would sympathize a bit with Leicester here. they're us from a few seasons ago.

Owners are allowed to put their own money in for infrastructure as far as I am aware. FFP doesnt come into it.

Aye, so it's been pointed out....

I'd be genuinely interested to know if ANY owners have built their clubs a new stadium though.

(e.g. You can bet Roman would have used bank loans or money LOANED by himself on their proposed new gaff for instance.... Much like all the money he blew on TRFs still shows as a debt on the Chavs books; not as an outright 'gift'.)

FFP still comes into the broader equation though as there is still the matter of the 'operating profits vs wages'-linked cap; but granted that's more a reason to build.

Also the dosh that the stadium is generating. Genuine question. How much extra are we generating with the new stadium per month/per year whatever and is it higher than the repayments or however its structured.

As I recall when discussing the matter around the time of the opening it was projected (by fans looking at the accounts etc.; not the club) that it would generate an extra 50/60m p/a for the trf/wage kitty...

Tbh, we've not been in the stadium long enough to have any workable actual figures at our disposal yet.

What I do recall thought is more recently we'd juggled our loan repayments so that they were lower per month and at a more favourable interest rate and that we were already ahead of schedule in terms of overall repayment.

Also about the part that no one is forced. Of course no one is forced to pay up, but once they are a part of cult, no one thinks of supporting as a choice. Its just very very different from a real business.

...Yet people still stop going (or go less) for all sorts of reasons. I've described my own predicament; there are no doubt a multitude of others.

By my reckoning my tickets have gone up approx £10 since we first hit the CL..... i.e. Circa £1 per game per year... Is that so bad?

By contrast it costs nigh on £20 for a peak time cinema ticket these days.... Tickets for a gig at Brixton Academy is typically £40/50 a pop too. Shit's just expensive these days.

We will get Aarons and keep Aurier, We wont be selling Lucas , nor should we. He gives his all no matter how ineffective and right now them characters are important. I was watching Giroud give VVD and Gomez a torrid time tonight and it illustrates that sometimes systems need personnel that fit them. He is no worldly but the way we set up, we need a big strong bloke to compete for the ball, Muriqi should be added if we can't find an even better more mobile player. Dias should be a priority and a move for Foster is a no brainer. Chillwell would be a mug buy for the money they would want I'd buy Grealish. Way over priced. I'd prioritize our list in this order.
IN

Aarons
Zakaria
Dias
Foster
Eze
Atal
CF (Muriqi/)
OUT
Wanyama
Rose
Vorm
Deir
Vertonghen

Wow got one right immediately🤣
Good luck Vic, very good player and bloke ruined by injuries.

From the Harry Kane thread:

Failure to qualify for the Champions League could leave Mourinho with as little as £50million to spend on new players, but he would be given incoming cash from sales.

£50m + money from sales? Seems painfully realistic to me.

This is why it makes sense for us to just give up with 10 games to go. :nawty:
