Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ok that's a fair question about whether striker is an overrated position. I think it is not, at the very top clubs, but yes it could be argued.
RM, Pool, BVB (didn't until January but with added pace), City (Pep moves to Jesus for fluidity and that's even after forcibly rounding Agueros game out). That leaves you Bayern (with Lewandowski who has complained that they don't have a backup for him and they are now playing without due to injury) and arguments for Barca, Juve & PSG because of aging players/strikers and not choice. I'm liking my chances in that argument.

I've seen no one take this up but what percentage of Harry's goals have been due to his singular brilliance. I'm talking goals like the one after Dele's backheel in the NLD or the left-footed one vs Huddersfield, etc. For even Messi I would say that it's only 30-40% (of a lot of goals) and that's probably high due to my bias. I've stated my thoughts on Harry's goals but what do you think? Surely it's not as high as Messi, right?

So for me I don't think we will be better off with Kane money spread over a few hopeful replacements.
Who said anything about 'hopeful replacements'. This is where I agree with Pzabbythethird . There should be a look at how we address squad issues beyond the price and whether they are Mendes client or from Mendes' clubs. I'm not big on 'big money transfers'. I'd rather the club identify players early, cheaply, and often. But that's getting ahead of ourselves. We shall see.

I just hope we are not still a selling club, instead we actually aspire to win things.
Every team is a selling club and that is not mutually exclusive with ambition. If we could sell Harry and have the last two seasons that Liverpool had would you still be dismayed at selling our biggest asset? Teams need to rebuild all the time and though most of the whiny bunch in this thread didn't recognize it when the evidence was staring them in the face for the last 18+ months we need a rebuild. And a rebuild doesn't augur well for immediate results.

I think its indicative of Kane's value when most United fans I know would be happy to throw 200mil at him.
Even Gary Neville is advocating the move, saying its 'fail proof'.

This guy is a machine and will continue scoring goals so long as he can run.
He may lose a yard of pace as he gets older, but he still going to bang in 20 a season as his game isn't reliant on pace.

Home grown, 20 goal a season striker just doesn't come around too often and is priceless to us.

Whilst it is great for a goal scorer to score great goals, it is putting away a high percentage of reasonable chances that marks out the best. How many players when given a good opportunity, miss the target or hit it straight at the GK. No one converts 100% of chances or scores a 100% of penalties but Kane converts a high % of both. Now I am sure there are stats to prove or disprove this but this is my feeling from watching him.

Keep pointing this out, page after lage.
He's missed a huge chuck of this season.
He still has 17 goals.

And that doesn't even explain his other on pitch offerings.

He is worth more than just money.
How many (non strikers) would be more likely to want to play with Harry Kane on the pitch than without him?
He's an attraction.

Harry Kane to Manchester United

Sami Mokbel of the MailOnline described how Kane is available for £200 million and is keen on the idea of moving to United.

There's plenty of truth to this one. Members of United's hierarchy would love to have Kane in attack, and they do have money to spend.

However, their first priorities are to complete deals for Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

And with that in mind, there will not be enough in the pot to also sign Kane in the same window.

Another issue with this transfer is that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would prefer to sell Kane to a foreign club, rather than a Premier League rival. But Kane would opt for Old Trafford over the Santiago Bernabeu, sources have told B/R, and it could be that he begins next season with Spurs but has a gentleman's agreement to pick his next club after that.

Verdict: Unlikely this year—but maybe in 2021.

He's going to end up priced out of any move - his importance to us won't match up with what he's worth to another team once he gets a year or two older

Players come and go during my 40 years following this club but losing Kane would feel...different. With an unlikable owner, a divisive manager playing terrible football and current events showing what’s really important in life (hint: football isn’t one of them) I’d step away as much as it pains me if he was sold. Levy would deserve all the protests and abuse that comes his way.

The coronavirus will be the deciding factor whether or not we keep Kane. The PL will probably not get started again until a vaccine is available to all maybe late next year by which time he will be 28 and perhaps not played for more than a year. If a big offer comes in at time I think we'll be very tempted to take it.

If that's the case no club will have the money to buy him - the transfer market at the very top end will become virtually non existent.

Yeah would agree with this and I think he may also push for a transfer at some point.

His game doesn’t rely on pace so can see him having a decent career if he’s not over used and listens to his body. He could play as a 10.

Hope I’m wrong and he stays though.

The competition prize money is set for the next 3-5 years already though - the opportunity cost of not having Kane doesn't decrease for us, at the same time clubs will have less money available for transfers as they have a hole in their income......so he becomes unsellable
The biggest clubs will still have money, the three he would consider are United, City and Madrid. United will be the favorites. Who knows what kind of player will be mentally and physically in a years time.

The media would have you believe that utd are the favourites. In reality they haven’t won anything of note since Fergie left and Kane would be going to win trophies.

He won’t want another project.
