After a few months and just 8 starts (3 goals, 2 assists) you wrote him off?
1 goal from open play in the league and after I saw that he had nowhere near enough pace and footballing ability to succeed in the Premier League, he scored a couple of decent penalties though (especilally that beauty v Gillingham!)... You still had much hope around Christmas for this donkey?

50m budget without sales is more than I expected tbh.

Son scored 2 Prem goals from open play in his first 25 league games for us. I'll always give players a chance. Certainly more than 4 months.

Jozy Altidore and Alfonso alves scored a bucket load in Holland....

We bought a player that was so far away from being premier league quality in my opinion

That can only suggest to me that we bought a player because of his numbers and that he was young and available reasonably cheap

I see no evidence that he was actually well scouted before we bought him

But whatever , none of us actually know , just my opinion

RVN and Suarez also scored plenty in Holland.

I think if we were scouting Janssen and Batshuayi in the summer of 2016, then you could question the scouting for sure, because neither were like for like Kane backups. Batshuayi even less so, he only really played in the 6 yard box.

But Janssen did at least try to work on his hold up game outside the box, and I really don't think Poch gave him a fair crack or made the best use of him.

If it was as simple as crunching numbers on a spreadsheet then there'd be no need for scouts, managers, recruitment departments, heck, anything. That's the job of a scout - to identify talent. Scoring a bucketload in the Dutch league isn't an indicator the player will make it in the PL - remember Alfonso Alves? Conversely RVP and Van Nistelrooy were both excellent: that's the point of scouting them, to see who's got the qualities that will mesh well with our style of football.

Er, fine?

Please, no.

Agree with both these points. Vinny tried hard and gave it his best on the pitch , although a legitimate question hangs in the air re. conditioning, looked a touch heavy imho. I agree we've made bigger mistakes in the transfer market too, but not sure what that says about Janssen...

Got to say - not aimed at you in particular Totti Totti - I find the Janssen revisionism amongst sections of our fanbase really baffling. He had a good chance and looked awful every time he played, just totally off the pace, out of his depth etc. I appreciate things don't always work out but he did look somewhere between Rasiak and Soldado in our annals of striker flops. For note: 1 in 4 in the Turkish league, 1 in 5 in the Mexican league subsequently.

15 games worth of minutes over 3 seasons is a good chance to you?
