Fix our midfield and our RB won't be a problem anymore. But let's suppose it's our major problem, who would we buy to fix that? Fucking Max Aarons? The guy is far worse than Aurier, and the fact he wasn't even one of the best player in a relegated side should say something to you. Only one that maybe we could bring in is Dest, but also, nothing guaranteed and will cost probably more than 40 million quid.

Yes Airfixx Airfixx . Of course.

The threat of falling foul of FFP must be keeping you awake at night, mate.

Were doing a Leeds! :bentley:

Not deadline day per se, but late on.

And that's my argument (and Pochettino's), more often than not we don't get our targets signed before pre-season starts
This is it, I remember when Harry was in charge and we got off to a shit start as he was still waiting on players, I think we got spanked by city in one of them.
Only when adebayor and Parker come in did we eventually settle down and pick up form, it seems that getting the squad ready to go as not as important as squeezing every last pound out.

Not every deal we do drags on til deadline day..... Some do yes; but most? No.... (Every window, that myth is debunked)

Personally, if funds are limited, then I'd rather we didn't overpay for players.
Mate I can't believe you have said this, so does that mean if we don't sign hardly anyone because we may have to cough a couple of quid you will be ok with this.
You surprise me as you have always told me that you are cleverer than this...
😁

I don't really get why so many on here are in denial.

It is what it is. Daniel Levy is more concerned with shaving a few extra dimes of the price tag than he is with providing his manager with the best possible chance to hit the new season running.

It's no longer up for debate. I'd have more respect for these guys if they at least had the decency to admit this before trying to fight their corner.

Nope.. It doesn't mean that.

I'm merely alluding to the simple concept of a transfer budget.

That said, if you back up a little and consider what I actually posted about the S'oton tweet - I didn't even reference Levy or if/when I thought we'd get said deal over the line...

Some guys who have been rumoured or suggested this year and in the past:

Hysaj
Castagne
Perriera
Florenzi
Ordiozola
Semedo

Plus younger guys like:

Aarons
Cash
Ferguson

Not saying they are all world beaters, affodable, available or close to an exhaustive list but there are options out there that would be a lot better than the absolute disaster we currently have at that position.

PSV's Dumfries is the one we should be after.

"Lampard, who had to deal with a transfer ban after being appointed as manager last summer, is keen to revamp his attack. Chelsea are set to part company with Pedro Rodríguez, who is joining Roma on a free transfer, while Willian is another veteran whose contract runs out at the end of the season. While Lampard wants Willian to stay, the 31-year-old Brazilian winger’s hopes of a new three-year deal look slim and there is an expectation that he could end up joining Woolwich on a free."

I have been interested in Willian but a 3 year deal would be a no from me.

Chelsea has to basically rebuild their entire backline and defensive midfield since Kante seems broken, and keeper as well.

So it should be fun watching them buy another attacker.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go in for someone like Koulibaly.

Chelsea have given their young manager the most wanted striker in Europe, possibly one of the most wanted AMs in Europe, and all this having already signed Ziyech.

The difference in ambition is astonishing.

Levy and ENIC really don't have an excuse anymore. City and Liverpool are light years ahead and now Chelsea and UTD are pulling comfortably away. They categorically cannot pretend to have any interest in CL football unless they seriously invest in the squad.

Ambition levels are night and day, one club wanting to win and compete for everything, the other just grateful to be competing around such fine teams.

Which means we will get top 4 next year and Levy will learn nothing.
