Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wilson knows how to score in the EPL. He's also done it on a team that plays counter attacking football in the epl, since they're relegation fodder. As a back up striker is absolutely needed, he's a no brainer at 10 million. He also wouldn't mind being a back seat to Kane since it's either play on another relegation threatened team, in the championship, or play in europe..

Dele seems a prime candidate for a swap, if one is to be had. A team who might have more of a need for a number 10 than they do for a current destroyer. I just can't see where dele fits into our formation given lo Celso is better going forward than staying back.

Signing a world class right back would be a show of intent. It likely won't happen but we desperately need quality in our wing backs more than any other area. That would help us jump leaps and bounds defensively without having to use one of our midfield positions as cover for a defensively incompetent wingback.

Partey is arguably the best DM on the planet.

Personally think he'd reject us anyway, because why even come to Spurs and play EL football?

It was just a nice pipe dream due to the cheap cost.
I disagree, I think the last few years have shown that the apparent pull of being in the CL means little when there's a decent club with dollar on the fee/wages.

It's not like Spurs are a terrible prospect either. Come live in London, play in the best stadium, train in the best training ground and get managed by Mourinho. Supposedly, we're only happy if we get straight back in the CL too which should at least make an incoming player think we're ambitious.

If Barca are really desperate to dump Countinho we should explore options there.

They already did one sketchy swap with Juventus. I'm sure Levy would be on board for some more skeezy transfer business with some kind of swap. Send them Ndombele. We'll take Coutinho and Firpo.

Lloris
Castagne - Toby - Sanchez - Firpo
Lo Celso - Hojbjerg - Coutinho
Willian - Kane - Son

Throw in Rakitic and Semedo instead of Coutinho.

:freund:
And if we’re going for an older forward on a free my vote would definitely not be for Willian but Mandzukic who can cover Kane as well and hasn’t fucked spurs over before

Now the Prem is going to be so condensed next season and we know we will have Europa, a back up striker is essential. Ideally I would prefer somebody better than Wilson but we don't have limitless funds and have areas in our regular XI that we would be better served splashing out on so for 10m, I'll take it.

Hojbjberg is the one I am worried about, I understand there seems to be a lack of top draw defensive midfielders around atm but it stinks of us going for an easy and cheap option. Southampton fans also don't seem to rate him at all so that worries me. I presume we will probably sign a right back as well, I expect it to be Aarons from Norwich again just because it is an easy option and we'll be able to get him from a relegated side.

If that is to be our transfer window Wilson, Hojbjerg and Aarons isn't exactly an inspiring window is it.

I think, and hope, Hojberg is comming in the place of Sissoko, and then we got a DM too. Is clear, by now, our priority should be the midfield and at least two player are needed if Ndombele ain't playing. But the sole fact of Hojberg in the place of Sissoko seems a bit of an improvemnt to me, despite Hojberg not being a very good player too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go in for someone like Koulibaly.

Chelsea have given their young manager the most wanted striker in Europe, possibly one of the most wanted AMs in Europe, and all this having already signed Ziyech.

The difference in ambition is astonishing.
But but but.....

Sometimes negotiations take time - just ask the ENIC minister of propaganda Airfixx Airfixx who has been part of many transfers in his life and apparently most can only be done in the last week because we’re skint

We have no ambition on the field other than to make maximum profit for the greedy cunt and board members

If we were serious - most of our transfers would have been done or close to done already. Instead we’ve only been linked with a clown from the Chinese league so he can sell more shirts in Asia and a Saints reject while our rivals keep signing world class talent

Outside of Hakimi, no one really that's the problem.

As I said in the post you originally quoted, I'm struggling to come up with suggestions for RB in terms of finding ones to get excited about. Periera would be cost prohibitive I think. I can't say I've been overly impressed with Aarons, he's quick up and down but lacks composure IMO, and defensively looks a bit weak (as you say, if we are going to pay 30m+ for him why not just keep KWP for nothing who's got similar defensive weaknesses but is a bit better on the ball). I've not seen enough of Baldock, seen nothing of Bogle or Lusala so can't comment.

Castagne looks more interesting than Hatebour to me, despite mostly being his back up this year, he does like to get forward and shows more composure in forward areas, he's just a bit one paced.

Not sure how Atal will be after serious injury, and he has mostly been used as a WB, not so much in a back 4, so not sure what he'd be like in a back 4, but he's very lively going forward.
Baldock would be a great asset. His age hasn't affected his game.

We have Bergwijn who would still see plenty of minutes.

ST: Kane, Wilson
RW: Willian, Lucas
LW: Son, Bergwijn

That would be the best depth up top we've ever had. We wouldn't be super young but Willian is the only one 30+ so it's not like we'd be old either.
Say Kane's out with a long term injury, then Wilson has to cover, does a guy who has only reached double figures once in his prem career inspire confidence?

Not for me.

Ultimately I don't think it's a position of need... Especially if Lucas & Lamela are both staying.... I'd be furious if we spend 40m or even uber-wages on Willian when we could (should?) be spending biggest at DM.
Out:
Aurier £22m
Lamela £15m
Foyth £15m
Rose £5m
Amos £5m
Walker-Peters 12m
Carter-Vickers 5m
79m

In:
Hojbjerg £18m
Aarons £20m
Wilson or King £18m
Eze £20m
76m

Think this is better - Wilson or King both HG and know PL, Eze can replace the ever injured Lamela and would probably develop into a key player for us.

Coutinho's wages probably impossible for any club, so Barca might need to bear 75% to have it done.

Might also think of selling 30 year old Sissoko, maybe add the Korean CB with the money
Nor Aaron's. Completely underwhelming. Lewis if anybody.

In my opinion it’s not fair of you to compare the spending power of our club to financial doped clubs like City and Chelsea, or commercial powerhouses like United or Liverpool with much more global appeal and conclude that the main difference is ambition.

I will even go further and say that I feel grateful that by now we can, on a financial level, compare ourselves to Woolwich (squad quality even better ofc). This wasn’t the case the past 50 years (give or take). We climbed the ladder in the most succesful way of all ‘honest’ premier league teams in the last decade (I believe this 1000%). We shouldn’t take this for granted. There was a time where we were about as good as Everton. Same type of facilities, squad quality and income (you may contradict me on this). Now we are above them in every single way. Everton splashed the cash multiple times, spent more than they could handle and look where they are. I’m not jealous at how their club is run whatsoever.
The game has changed, my friend. To compete, you HAVE to invest because all your opposition are improving so fast that we're getting left behind
