Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You are right my expectations are likely too high, it is just frustrating to see Inter being such a bitter club than us. The big clubs I understand but thought that we could match Inter.

I like the Brozovic-Sissoko swap for sure, just prefer it was coupled with the addition of better players as well rather than Brozovic being that “top player” we would be adding in the transfer window.

I think you’re just underestimating what an upgrade he’d be for us.

Hojbjerg - Brozovic replacing Sissoko - Winks would absolutely make us better. Especially with Jose’s tactics. We’d be so much more stable in the middle. I think they’d make the jobs of the entire backline easier.

If Skriniar is avaliabe I think we should break the bank for him. Could sell Davinson to raise founds and maybe give them Sissoko as well. That and a DM and we would challenge for the title. EDIT: or not. But will be a pretty nasty team.

That seems like a dangerous way to go into the season.

Trying to win with less talent is not a likely successful route to go.

I don’t understand the idea that we do t need players who are talented. Their is no system I have seen being successful where having players that can pass the ball is a negative.
There are many ways of constructing a balanced midfield, though. Sure, if you’ve got unlimited resources you buy four players who can do everything. If you want to play like Pep you need players in there who are incredible technicians.

It’s obvious that Jose doesn’t want us to play like Pep or even like we did peak Poch. We can then get away with more functional players in there if they protect the defence resolutely and can intercept the ball well and launch effective counters.

The Son comparison with Ndombele is also kinda poor. Son was criticized for being inconsistent and there were rumors of him wanting to leave, but there was never a concern with his work ethic and fitness. Like Ndombele, Son needed time to adjust. The difference is, based on loose information and small sample of playing, Ndombele isn’t pushing himself to make that adjustment.

How long without an away win had we gone? 11 months? How long was that going to carry on for? Go back and watch the Brighton game and convince yourself we were closer to 5th

I'll go watch the Bournemouth game instead and see the absolute inability to create anything against a team that was giving away goals for fun as a better representation of what we can expect going forward. Ill then try to convince myself we aren't headed down to league 1 in two years with that kind of play.

I think it makes us better, my concern is that it doesn't have us competing for the top 4.

I also don't see it adding any creativity to the side so we are left watching the dreadful games where we hope to get some magic for one or two players because the team has zero ability to create offense on its own and that is the last thing I want to watch next season.

I'm expecting fuck all or average junk, it really isn't worth the hassle or time worrying and what the club will fuck up next.
I'm with you mate.
I used to really enjoy the banter of a summer transfer window on here but tbh I'm pretty much dead to it now.
So many of our own fans hoodwinked into accepting the false idea that we can't compete. Accepting that for some reason we have to wait for the leftover breadcrumbs. And inexplicably believing we should only be targeting players who got relegated.

The whole thing's become a farce.

A charade that our own fans are buying in to.

I do not think that is likely to be an effective way to play, especially with the players that we have.

I think it is likely that Jose will try it and try to sell it as the way our players fit, I just don't see many teams out there having success with midfields made up of players who are weak at passing and have zero creativity. It is such a limiting way to play the game in which you have to rely on individual brilliance from your front players or mistakes from the other team.

I don't need 4 players that can do everything but 4 players that can pass would be nice.

Perhaps one of you guys should start a thread called "Airfixx!!!"
As of this morning I have that fella on ignore, and he will stay that way, never seen anyone get so obsessed about my levy and defend it with such perverse passion.
He tries to shut any dissention down if any criticism is made of the club, it's very odd his behaviour I can only think he is Levy's son, or he lives with his mum as a full time carer which would explain the anger issues very disturbed individual.

Would winner you but there isn't a function totally over it all.

Weird how much hatred you have for a most talented midfielder in our squad.

Fat as pig, ffs seriously?
I think you're right.........but also wrong. What's the point in having that much talent when you lack the physical attributes to use it? He should definitely stay one more season and be given the chance to show his ambition to play for us. If he doesn't come good 20/21, sell him. But Mou HAS to give the chance to play otherwise he has no incentive to change.

I don't think Brozovic is really a DM, I think he can play there but not sure it is his best position.

But even it was I think that statement is a problem if true, especially if you around at what we have. Brozovic should not be the best DM we have, if he is that is not a positive about him but a negative about how poor our roster is.

I am not saying we can get any of them but look at some on the other names in regards to Inter that have been talked about in MF, Barella and Tonelli. Both are so much better than him, Those are the level of players we should go after, the kind that Inter is reportedly keeping and reportedly using to replace Brozovic.

Maybe I am overrating we where are in the footballing world but I am not sure we should be happy that we get Inters scraps and now make them starters. I am hoping that we have more ambition than that. Inter is a good club but we are not talking Bayern, RM, Barca or City here. It is a club that we should be matching ambition with I would say.

Our number one target is Hojbjerg FFS, (he's not a DM and not even a great CM) and you are baulking at Brozovic (who is primarily a 6/DM who can play other cm positions) ?

Brozovic wouldn't be my first choice, but I don't think there are many 6's out there who would be a better fit in terms of what we need to get the best out the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele - he does/did a similar job for Croatia between Modric and Rakatic.

Well then that is a concern. It is never a good idea to bring in mediocre players because they fit in a managers system. Especially when there are legit concerns about how good that manager currently is and how long he will be here. If its fit that he wants then get a guy who fits but is much better than Brozovic.

If players like Tonelli and Barella (or players of their same level) don't fit into Jose's system it might be time to get a new manager.

This is entirely the point you are arguing against many of us re Ndombele, also re Ndombele and a DM.

Ndombele is not a dynamic busy cunt, but he isn't the lazy useless lump you and some others are portraying him as, and he is an extremely talented midfielder, what we need is a manager and a set up that gets the best out of it.

If someone like Brozovic allows us/Mourinho to do that, then that's smart recruitment.

Embarrassing stuff from an enic mouthpiece Airfixx Airfixx trying to convince us Ndombele real value is 40m.

What a load of bollocks.... I've tried to convince no-one of anything in that post.

I don't take any such prices on websites particularly seriously.... Just idol curiosity as I wouldn't have a fucking clue how much Brozovic may or may not cost and I posted the links....

What the fuck has anything of that got to do with ENIC anyway? Some of you idiots are obsessed..... I find plenty of other things to post about other than our owners; it's quite sad that some of you children can't say the same (you know who you are).

....And before you get your knickers in a twist, what I said about Dav being worth 60/70m was tongue in cheek.
