How can Lamela and Kane work well together when Lamela would never pass the ball to Kane?
I don't get the Lamela love here lately. He has repeatedly shown he is a ball hog, who is a poor passer on the few times he does decide to give the ball up, with very little scoring touch or instincts.
He what is he, a hardworking, good pressing, foul prone bench sub. He can be effective to bring on to see out a game for the last ~20 minutes when we are ahead or as desperate move when behind to try and force errors with the other team, but he is a liability going forward and with the ball at his feet because he thinks he is Messi and can run through the whole team so rarely looks for a pass and rarely beats even the first man let alone the whole team like he tries.
Bergwijn has constantly come on and created chances whether starting or off the bench. The idea of sitting Bergwijn and playing Lamela is bonkers.
GLC and Alli have both shown to not only be much better players, but much better in the role just behind the front 2/3 so taking them out to play Lamela is that role is not just bonkers but criminally irresponsible for a manager to do.
He is a bench player, and a mediocre one at that, and should be used as such. Maybe for a 2nd/3rd tier Serie A team he could start and if there is interest in that lets explore that transfer all day. I appreciate his effort and willing to give 100% but no way should he have an expanded role.
